you must remove the key chips from the white cars keys and then fit the black cars key chips into the white cars keys, otherwise the ecu will throw a wobbly with two different key chips present.

I have done that, ECU, Transponder and chip all match.
I push the started button and nothing happens.. I might have disterbed something putting the transponder in so I take that to bits again and give it a look

I wonder if having the 2 key chips there on the first attempt has tripped something?
Have you got Mr Captain's opcom there?

not got Capitans laptop.
On the first attempt, I just had the old transponder hanging down and the old key pressed against it. the white Key was in the ignition (the the transponder unplugged).. the VX started, slowly but did start. after it was running for a few seconds I turned it off to check water levels. All was good so I went to restart it and it just clicked.. nothing happened

Golly.
I've changed 2 screens...not a fun or easy job.
I also did some of this ECU business.
i bought an Astra matched set....sent the ECU to CS for a basemap.
Chips into my old keys and bob was my auntie.
(Then I sold my old ECU+NA mapping)

P1614 Loss if rim serial data?
1614 is key not recognised by ecu.
Get your opcom buddy back in to verify.

I hoping its an old code as I have the correct chip+transponder+ECU, and the battery is just playing silly fuckers

You manage to get the stuff off the black one then? Excellent. Sounds like a battery, any of your neighbours have some jump leads?
they were being "helpful" with settlement so I negotiated something that would save me 400 instead
