Just spending this morning on seeing how easily I can use the GMPT E-15 on my software, I have maps here now. Compared to the Bosch its quite small.

As chill mentions, there is more to come and I also need to fit the wideband in the car for better mapping and diagnostic. Peter said that my data was good and tweaked the map after i sent it to him. @exmantaa the harrop is on the standard supplied pully, I dont have any extra cooling, and the power is fine for now
I am looking into some wider rear wheels to hopefully save a spin up and also traction control (i know that this divides opinion, but with this power it is useful for the road).
When i am fully, fulyl mapped, as i havent gone into the tweaking of the top end yet or got the wideband i will then take a trip to go on a RR. hopefully i will be able to get over to CMS, as this is what it and other cars have been dyno'd on, so it will give a more fair comparison.
For now, i will remain nervous about touching the accelerator and treating the car with the respect it deserves

Do a power test in the software while on the rollers To see how accurate the software power measurements are, Also save the power measurements for every change you make then you can compare maps using the software and see where gains are or even losses
that is a good idea, thanks I hadnt thought about it, but I had read about the power test, so it would be good for us to know the accuracy of this. My prediction is not very as it is based on a lot of vaiables (weight being a big one and this will be affected by both my weight and the fuel in the car) the rollers at CMS are a good base to go from as most know what they have got from there.
the power tests are quite a cool feature though, but i dont want to be doing a load of power runs just yet

I changed the site attachments feature, so that OBDTuner maps can be uploaded as attachments to posts on the site. They're tiny as well, so shouldn't be an issue overloading anything either but I'm pretty sure they'll be of no use in winOLS or TunerPro as they're not binary dumps.
Can we have our own area to post maps in the tuning section please

as you say they will probably be binary patches, or delta files.

can you imagine this request just a few years ago , I imagine the reply from JT would be a sales pitch about "we are just testing this for customers as free upgrade ... blah blah "

Another important variable is the tyre development. If you don't measure it accurately your figures will be way out. And be careful, a small change in tyre pressure can affect tyre development significantly.

Just spending this morning on seeing how easily I can use the GMPT E-15 on my software, I have maps here now. Compared to the Bosch its quite small.
It's a smaller footprint ECU compared to the BOSCH ME series, that's for sure.. The BOSCH ECU is if course part of a big platform/family so it's design allows for many engine configurations to be controlled.
But keep in mind that Peter has also altered the original ECU code and maps quite a bit to actually make it usable as a 'mappable' ECU with OBDtuner for the GMPT.
Eg. For one the OEM code works with 8-bit values in the various fuel and ignition maps which is fine for the N/A engine in it's standard form, but you simply run out of resolution when a lot of fuel is required to operate the engine at max power (eg. strap on an SC), but can't get sufficient small injection size anymore to idle OK as one increment gets too coarse.
Or you go the other way and simply dump in as much fuel as possible 'up top' and keep a decent idle and cruise, which seems to be what most standard remaps for SC's tended to do.
By moving to 16 bit (or more) values in the maps (and adapting the code to grok that!), Peter has made it possible to get good control over the fuel and ignition over the full load spectrum even on forced-induction cars, so no need to go for the heavy-handed 'dump in fuel' method anymore.
In it's OEM state the GMPT ECU has more rather 'interesting' design decisions inside the code. Lots seems to be based around keeping the ECU cheap and simple, but also because it was designed to just run the Z22SE and not much else so (unlike the BOSCH platform in the turbo) flexibility was not a design requirement.
Bye, Arno.

its a bit like a zx81 with 1K ram , that it has to page in / out from the 16K rampak , so it can fit in the full lookup table. I used to program in 6502 assembler, before going to Motorola 68K stuff, so I am used to tiny efficient code.
