Nope but it's essential for the slightly further run to M&S

this will be similar to what you have on the race motorbikes with the quick shift so you keep the throttle pinned and just push through the gears without

the clutch ?

 

M&S, i normally pull in to aldi halfway down road so launch control maybe handy around parking lots

FTS means you keep the throttle pinned and push through the gears. You have to operate the clutch in normal manner. FTS keeps turbo charger revving, no boost loss inbetween shifts and you get an extra kick releasing the clutch (think in english you call it "engine inertia"). You could not do that without FTS because the rev limiter of OEM ECU would kick in.
