shape and then coat with a layer of filler

then a layer of grp and fill and sand and then it should be next christmas and I will have more time to finish it off !!!

I'd suggest this for filling the surface in the foam

http://www.easycompo...oat-primer.aspx

and then this for the glossy top coat

http://www.easycompo...t-hi-gloss.aspx

You should be able to get similar stuff for cheaper from somewhere like eastcoast but the easy composites stuff is top notch quality.  It will also be easier than adding grp to the foam too.  Have a watch of their you tube tutorial.

1.5m width.

Are you wanting the cf finish? If not and your painting over then trying to line weave up isn't important.

I was thinking the whole point of the carbon stuff is to see it

so painting it would be a shame to do as all the hard work goes into making a tool

that gives a great finish

No work friday so this could be my next chance to take the blade to it

I'm tempted to go back up there and have a play but i know it's still soft and not cured yet

I want it to cure properly so I can lift it off the car and have it remain in shape and not sag.

I've have been toying with the idea of doing this for ages

I just bothered to have a go today !

hopefully I'll be able to get a good mold offof the tool I make

It will also have the roll bar cover built into it and I hope will be a

replacement for the roll bar cover

East Coast do Durabuild that can be used as an all in one pattern coat. Might work out cheaper than having to buy primer and gloss.

Bit of a premium on 1.5m cloth over 1m unless you are going for bare carbon. Have a look at the clearance section at east coast, picked up some end of roll and off cuts in both carbon and glass just last week for about 25% saving if the size suits you.

Busy doing an engine cover for the VAG engine at the min myself.

Molest A4 cover to suit, smooth it out then take a mold. Not worried about underside not being smooth so only 1 part mold needed. Will stop before pipe and simple flat sheet more or less will bolt to original heat shield fixings.

Do you have any picture for inspiration or something to show what your aiming at? I found a coupe back 3d on the net which I like and want to do.

got scared and went to the pub for a hoegarden or 3 !

Spray foam is quite sh*t it has quite a few holes inside it and will need a fair bit of work

I had a quick trim of one side

but need to go up there again armed with pens and string and other such stuff to get the profile right

good news is .... it lifted off in one peice without sticking to the car and leaving any residue !

Asking for a vacum baging kit for my birthday in May so I hopefully will have some kid of result by june

or july

or maybe next january when I'm off work and bored again !!!!
