Hi Guys,

Some thieving b**stard stole both my headlights yesterday, just tore them out the front of the car and broke the fiberglass mountings in the process. If you guys could be on the look out for any VX220 Turbo headlights that come up I'd really appreciate it. Car was parked in central Edinburgh. One was practically brand new and the other was pretty ropey and had a scratch on it that I had attempted to polish out. I'd recognise them both if I saw them.

Thanks for your help guys, can't be that many of us with these cars left so if anyone gets offered them please let me know.

Can barely get out of bed today, so pissed off about it.

Ben

Yikes! Not good! :( Bastards! Strange way to steal them too, you'd think they would have taken more care

Me neither, so many times I've seen vx's discusses on other forums and someone always cement on parts prices and how expensive headlights are. I can't even begin to imagine how pissed off I'd be!!

Sorry to hear this. Will keep an eye out on the usual for sale places like fleabay etc.

Odd thing to steal when you think about it, unless it was some twat to graft onto his Corsa..

thinking about it they must have knowledge of how they fix to the car, otherwise they wouldn't have known how easy they are to steal

My guess is there's some guy at a scrap yard who has bought a crashed car and is repairing it to sell on. I would keep a eye out on vxs that come up for sale.

Thanks guys, might be a good idea to start marking headlights somehow so this doesn't become a thing.

That scenario has been going through my mind for years.

Over here used decent ones go up to 750 euro each.

As you know you don´t damage the headlight, just the clam if you yank it correctly, it´s a pretty grim situation.

Porche 911 lights territory now. :angry2:

They even have vaults for them now.

There are more subtle ways to remove them intact though. Yanking them clean out of the clam risks ripping the fixing clean out the back and/or ruining the casing/lens. Some folk would steal the sugar out your tea :(

That smal fibre strip holding the nut is extremely flimsy.

A good yank will get them out without any lense damage.

Sadly, if done suitably badly, it could write the car off :(

If done 'sensibly' it'll merely rape your premiums.

But given how small the market would be for the lights its stupid.
