Don't use the driver Open obd tuner software putting you code in along with ignition on car and hit test button With correct port selected If still no good play with band rate ( baud rate ) and then you will have to play with these instructions http://www.obdtuner....ualV2.6.1.2.zip And play with the PC settings

I have cycled through most of the port numbers hitting the test button and nada , I have tried different baud rates too.

when I got it working on my dads laptop, I could find it in device manager and it had up to date drivers showing, on this netbook, I see an entry under 'other devices' called usb serial port , but message say no drivers installed for this device.

the clean install was from an ISO downloaded , I used the key on the back of the netbook and it all authenticated correctly but I did have to faff about quite a lot downloading, VGA drivers, network adapter drivers etc from the samsung website. just wondered if there was a dependant driver that I have failed to add to the windows reinstall?

right fecked off with it now. I hate being beaten by technology.

uninstalled all drivers i downloaded, rebooted and hoped windoze would recognise the cable . nope nothing , not a bloody thing. OBDT doesnt pick it up, device manager cant see it.

going to drink rum !! :angry2:

in 'Device Manager' (might be another folder, but in OBD manual it has the correct folder), in 'Ports' right click on the OBD 'usb serial port', click properties, click the port settings tab and change the Baud rate to 38400

You do need it connected to the car with ignition on

hello all , hope everybody had a lovely chrimbo!!

I'm after some collective knowledge again..

the old girls playing up again..

since the last few exchanges on this thread I gave up with trying to get crap netbook to talk to the ecu and just enjoyed driving it, she then got 'put away' for winter , after a 4 (ish) weeks hibernation I tried to start her and nothing.

so diagnostic so far is

symptoms. engine cranks over fine but no attempt at firing

1. battery fully charged (and a pretty fresh one at that)

2 fuel rail priming and appropriate pressure at valve.

3 changed coil pack ( this did change to an almost firing once ) but then nothing.

4. it's in a garage so water etc is not an issue

5. its cold in there but certainly above freezing.

6. 3/4 tank of fuel (less than 5 weeks old)

any ideas ,

Sounds like a boost leak

Don't see how a boost leak will stop from firing.

Not enough oxygen to cause it firing In affect flooding it Can you check spark plugs

There's no boost at idle, so there's no difference starting a car with or without a boost leak.

Has the battery been charged the entire time? It sounds like an immobiliser type problem where one part of the system forgets how to talk to another.

the battery got a little flat but enough to crank the engine , I thought the immobiliser allowed the engine to fire and run for a few seconds before cutting?

is there a way to reset the immobiliser ?

how can I test for a spark? I read that that sticking a plug in the coil and touching an earth can do bad things to the ecu and my spark plug testers are useless in this engine as you cant see in the deep hole.

the replacement coil pack was second hand from ebay so possibly two faulty coil packs? (unlikely though)

If you can, hook up another car battery via jump leads to the current one. Just to make sure it's not flat. Most of these starting issues come down to the battery, both charge and how well the battery is bolted to the terminals.

Tom

the engine itself cranks over really fast, with the lights on they dim a bit when cranking but still are on . the battery has been on the charger and is only about a year old. (halfords Calicium jobby)

so pretty sure the battery is good, but I will borrow a jump pack and give it a go
