Dammit! I have the same/ similar issue.

some occasions a light stutter under full acceleration midway through the rev range. Also get the occasional drop / surge / delay in power which is annoying, but infrequent.

I also have a lot of stutter coming off throttle which is horrible. I was thinking there may be a couple of issues -

air intake pipe is original and could be collapsing under load

recirc valve old and nackered

something else!

last year it had a new AMM, new coil pack, both new boost solenoids and I think new plugs (can't remember) trying to fix this. Seems I wasted my money on these, but I have spares now...

Any more suggestions :)

Note - this is actually alot milder than it sounds, but after driving the thing for nine years you notice when something changes

I have no idea

Find out what level you should be running and measure what you have. It could be boost cut.

I have no idea

Theres no point in having a turbo if you dont have a boost gauge!!

I'll fit a Stack for you for £3

I would suggest getting a cheap bluetooth OBD2 adaptor and torque app for android, you will be able to monitor what most sensors are doing. It will also allow you to monitor air flow and temp and boost levels in real time to ensure that your MAF etc is behaving as it should.

Hmm had that replaced last year. I know they are a bit sh*t but that would be taking the p*ss on a sh*t factor scale of 1 to 10

I'm thinking of getting the aluminium intake pipe as my original part is soft as sh*t which can't be helping, and if I do this I might as well get the 80mm AMM. Does anyone know if that's going to screw the running of my car up? Really can't be arsed to travel to Norfolk for that

There's also the upratd recirc valve which may cure the trailing throttle wobble?

If your car is set for the 70mm AMM, you will need a remap for the 80mm.

UPDATE:

New MAP sensor fitted and still the same problem.

Thus far it's now had:

New AMM

New boost solenoid

New NGK Iridium .7 gapped spark plugs

New Bosch coil pack

New MAP sensor

No error messages

When I accelerate the car misfires/hesitates more often than not, the turbo flutters like fcuk and occasionally it'll get some boost from somewhere and start to accelerate then I'll change up and it starts again. Normally about 3k revs

Well and truly stumped.

It better fcuking not be... When you fit the VXR turbo to the Z20LET you invalidate the warranty. Anyway it was doing this (to some extent) prior to the VXR turbo being fitted so I'm fairly confident it's not that. Plus the old turbo went to Autovaux as it was an exchange service. I'm going to try the boost solenoid nearest the inlet manifold and see if it's that. If that doesn't remedy it it'll be taken somewhere local (in the NE that is incredibly difficult) for them to have a poke about. Thanks everyone for their suggestions so far - even Chill

It would be useful Steve if you could have a quick look over, certainly I doubt it needs a turbo reinstall

The boost control is a very small circuit, presurised pipework from the turbo-outlet , solenoid switching pressure to actuator or return to turbo-inlet. If you unplug pipe from top of actuator you should get a consistent operation, less boost.

Likewise if you unplug vacuum feed to recirc valve, and plug the pipe , you should still get boost , but slightly worse turbo spooling when changing gear as this circuit is mainly clutch pedal triggered. Surge flutter should be obvious with the divertor (recirc) valve bypassed.

Any help is appreciated so thanks chaps!

Steve - I'm not sure I can get the car to Hartlepool so if I were to pick you up and drop you off in my daily sometime then I would be eternally grateful

Not really a good idea to bring it to Hartlepool anyway as the parts I need access to are right near the turbo and exhaust which will be a few hundred degrees C after the long drive meaning a lot of standing round waiting for stuff to cool. I'm happy to drive to you one day if you will cover the fuel costs.

My money is on faulty BCS by the way.

I'll give a new BCS a go first and if that doesn't work I'll give you a shout - how does that sound?

ETA - the BCS next to the exhaust has been replaced - I'm gonna try the other one
