What was that enclosed filter Martin S and a few others ran at state 2?

Pipercross VM7000. Been on my car for three years now and definitely helped take the edge off the noise. Good for enough airflow for 400bhp according to Pipercross if you use the larger inlet and made of plastic, so no resonance.

And a third to half the price. :)

Pipercross VM700. Been on my car for three years now and definitely helped take the edge off the noise. Good for enough airflow for 400bhp according to Pipercross if you use the larger inlet and made of plastic, so no resonance.   And a third to half the price.:)

Itg looks cooler ;) Think Fezz runs same as you to be fair, and rates it.

If you say so and if you mount it somewhere visible. Mines invisible unless you've got the arch liner out as I don't have the gay hatchback conversion. :P

I know Martin reckons it's made his car silent but it certainly doesn't on mine, it just takes some of the edge away but my smaller pulley is a screamer anyway. I fitted it after getting black flagged at Donington.

Yup, considering I paid £40 for it new on ebay i'm pretty happy with it. surface area is pretty big, but the reducers it comes with are junk, one split and I replaced it with a silicon job.

(Graeme, I think you drove it with the open pipercross and Larini rather than the VM700, just incase you were thinking back to the noise it made)

Out of interest, does ITG or Pipercross recommend the optimal length of intake pipe between the filter and the TB?

Nope, I just reused the straight steel pipe I already had. It's quite long on my car as you can't see anything of the filter.

Will be selling mine as I have just bought a bigger ls4 throttle body and seems silly to reduce air pipe with itg filter . Great bit of kit and isn't restricting my car and JG said was good for 400 bhp I think

is this basically intake runner length?

didn't think this really mattered with FI?

Yup to be fair I like my cars noisy, unlike techie. If it wasn't for damn trackday regs I'd let it scream it's head off!

It doesn't really matter with forced induction. The supercharger adds so much turbulence that any concerns about wavelengths go out of the window. In very simple terms you want the least amount of restriction before the supercharger, that's wide pipes (as the flow of air at the pipe wall is 0), after the supercharger you're pretty much limited by the design of the inlet manifold.

hmm... there's not really much you can to make it longer, and looking at most other FI setups, the air filter to TB/SC setup is way longer than anything else I've seen. Obviously you can't do anything between the SC and intake.
