Sizten beat me to it - v6 doesn't use trionic unfortunately, but bosch management system. T5 and T7 is excellent though. (B204, B205 etc)from memory , the v6 uses motronic m9.6 B284L with 250BHP B284E with 230BHP only difference is calibration B284R , believe has hot cams read up here : http://www.autospeed...?popularArticle
So what would that mean? easier to use the ecu from a donor car or go down the lines as Rossoco mentioned?

displacement (cc), comp ratio, bore(mm), stroke(mm), power(bhp) for v6 high feature LP1 2.8 NA , 10.0:1, 89.0, 74.8, 210 LP9 (aka LAU) 2.8T , 9.5:1, 89.0, 74.8, 321 LF1 SIDI 3.0, 11.7:1 , 89.0, 80.3, 270 LFW flex fuel , same Holden Alloytec 3.2, 10.3:1, 89.0, 85.6, 227 LY7 3.6, 10.2:1, 94.0, 85.6, 275 LLT SIDI 3.6, 11.3:1, 94.0, 85.6, 312 LFX SIDI 3.6, 11.5:1, 94.0 85.6, 323 LF3 3.6T, 10.2:1, 94.0 85.6, 420 LF4 3.6T, 10.2:1, 94.0 85.6, 455
So what are the differences between the 250bhp engines and the vxr to get 71bhp more? bigger turbo, cams?...

not sure, but its all the same block , from 2.8l 210bhp , upto 3.6l 455
so probably the usual stage tuning , bolt-ons , huge intercooler, bigger exhaust, standard turbo is a small twin scroll mitsubishi one at low pressure.

had a quick look at Courtenay , with the B284L and B284E , remap only goes to 300bhp
with a 3" in and out system, bigger injectors, then going upto 340bhp

the "problem" with the donor ECU is that its possible it will need other parts of the vehicle system to communcate with to be happy...

I wouldn't want a donor engine over 30k miles, unless I was planning on stripping it down and replacing/upgrading things internally. I also doubt very much the donor ECU and loom will work without keeping the BCM and dash pod as well as it'll be totally CAN'd. Better to just bin in it entirely and get a suitable aftermarket ECU that will support direct injection, drive by wire, variable valve timing, boost control, etc.

I'd start small and work with base engine packaging.

Quite. It's all a bit moot if the engine and gearbox don't fit.

would be interesting to compare against the McLaren (Ricardo) 3.8l v8 , approx 199kg
that block as a 3.6l v6, 168kg and lot of potential

What V6 were Caral offering in their stretched VX? Was that one of these? Though might have been setup as a longitudinal install, due to the extra rear end space.

True I will start looking into finding dimensions and measuring the VX engine space on subframe to see if it'll even fit.Quite. It's all a bit moot if the engine and gearbox don't fit.
