Hmmm, that's interesting (but unfortunate) regarding the driveshaft placement..

Is there an option to remove a small amount of material from the engine side to allow the drive shaft to pass, or is it not even close?

The F40 gearbox would be good (6 speed and very cheap) but the initial hurdle is that apparently it interferes with the subframe leg.. Never tried this by Vocky said so..

It's very small but would cut out one of the bolt holes for the gearbox. That's my thinking you can pick up a vectra vxr f40 for around 170 and bearin. Rebuild kits are available fairly cheap. Figment I'll not be testing till after the summer now but given the v6 is an inch and a half shorter than the z22 I'm hoping with a little bit of getting it should be ok. The width of the engine is an inch or two wider than the z22 with exhaust manifold and charger on it. So a little bit of modding to the boot and bulkhead may be required but just gives me an excuse to get some titanium from work and replace it for that  From measuring the two gearboxes the f40 is only 10mm longer from bellhousing to end over the F23 but it is a little bit bigger (can't remember exactly) width ways over the f23

Not done anything regards to fitting as yet, but did end up going out and buying a vectra engine and gearbox aswell to strip the vectra engine for spares and use the gearbox. Car will be getting strip in the next couple of months which is sooner than planned but with course and work I won't be around much to drive it anyway so might aswell get started

So has project "off the road again" has already started? Surely you should treat yourself to a nice summer time drive or two up here with me before you do start it?!

Any news/ updates on this? Also if you still have the engine do you have pictures of where the engine mounts bolt on to the block on the 2.8? I'm waiting for a cheap/wrote off vectra c 2.8t elite to come up so I can use most of the wiring

I'll get some pics this weekend. I'm using an A28 from the insignia as apposed to the Z28. But it doesn't quite fit with the VX subframe. But I've gone a different way with mine using an Exige V6 subframe and body

It was originally going to stay VX but without a coupe back and modifying the subframe it wouldn't work. So figured as I already have too much money in the car to sell it without a massive loss I'll just spend even more on it  and make it ridiculous. So yup will be full Exige V6 bodywork with some twists ;) but hopefully around the 650-700hp mark. That will be in sport mode (high boost) aim is to have low boost mode running around the 400-450 mark.
