I've not got many decent photos and still haven't got my Exige subframe but here's one while I was working on it...

Not sure if the pic worked as I'm on my phone. I will be updating my project thread at some point so it will all be in there :thumbs up:

That's with the VX subframe spaced 40mm the Exige subframe will add around 4" more room allowing the driveshafts to be perfectly straight

Great! So looks like the engine with the standard VX subframe would just be too tight a fit?

Yeh very slightly. If it was to stay as a VX it would need the bulkhead modifying as you can see with the big hole and some modifications to the subframe.

Interesting! thumbsup

Much kudos for attempting this! Imnotworthy

The rear of the V6 Exige is quite differen though as far as the suspension and uprights and hubs goes compared to the VX and 4-cylinder Elises...

Also, the V6 rear hubs are from Toyota and are a 5x114.3 PCD (yes, the V6 exige runs 2 different PCD's.. 5x110 front, 5x114.3 rear), also I don't know if these hubs will work with the existing VX ABS system. They may have the hall-effect sensors for a BOSCH ABS system that's used in Elises after 2010 or so, instead of the inductive pickups in the VX220 hubs that are sourced from early-2000 vauxhalls and were used up to that time.

Perhaps Toyota has some older inductive style ones that might work, but it will likely need to send the same pulses/revolution as the front hubs or the ABS unit will go nuts.

Or will you be trying to graft the VX hub back onto the V6 Exige uprights or also go to the V6 Exige BOSCH ABS system?  B)

Bye, Arno.

I did look into this a while ago when I got an offer for a German V6 subframe, but the other needed parts for it like the wishbones and hub carriers made it all quite expensive. And then I discovered the weight of a V6 subframe...

But will follow this build closely!  thumbsup  thumbsup

(I'm still thinking about a longer wheelbase VX, but them with a spaced out rear frame like you did there. )

I'm having custom wishbones made to keep the VX hubs so it's not got different PCD front and rear

Maybe but then they're still cast aluminium and not T45 tubular like mine will be. And the wishbones aren't costing me a lot as all I'm paying for is material and my friend (aircraft welder and fabricator) is making them for me.

Yes. There is an Exige on ebay at the minute that's being sold as a project with a vx220 chassis
