I would love to supercharge but the vx is a cat c repair (clam shell and door) and don't want to go over the top with it as only planning on keeping it a few months then buy a turbo or possibly a supercharged vx220.

Each to their own... But that sounds like more hassle than it's worth to me.

Starting to sound like it is may just leave it standard and buy a turbo or supercharged sooner than I was planning

Still don't get what is making you opt to replace the cat c car and buy a supercharged one, when the cost for Joe or Lee to do it would be not that different to the cost to trade.

It's just that I would rather have a not cat car if I was going to spend a lot of money on it. Theres nothing wrong with my car it is just me personally I do not believe it would be worth spending £3000-£4000 on upgrading a cat c. I would much rather start with a straight car

Well cat. C/D is usually cosmetic body work with this. People go the other way and supercharge a car to make money on it, so might be worth better understanding the work done to the car before making your decision.

The previous owner who has had it 4 years claimed it was just front clam and passenger door but cannot be certain. I will get it jacked up and have a good look around. To be honest it drives spot on its only got 38k on the clock and looks like it has been well maintained. I will have  a look into it and see if it's worth doing.

Sounds about right. Front clam is £3k unpainted, easily enough to get it to a cat C, especially if it needs a new headlight (£900)

So, what does service history tell you?

A car is only as good as it's current condition. How it got there really doesn't matter.

It does affect resale value though I cannot afford to spend thousands on it and not increase the value by that amount

All the cars are now 10-15 years old. If you think that many have full service history, you'll be in for a shock. Unless you paid over the odds for the car, the price will increase accordingly.

Be prepared to write off the value of mods they don't add value to the car. The na VX will improve your driving and reward you more than a high power car that is all point and squirt. You will be slower to start with but all the better for it once you learn how to drive. Just watch captain vines' videos. When he was na he showed up a lot of the higher powered cars on track.

Dude, get it on track with decent pads and fluid with some of the cars you are used to tracking with. If you are any kind of driver you will a) love it and B) be astonished how it can munch most cars in the corners.

From the National at Pembrey in 2013. Me in my standard NA with leaking Bilsteins and shagged Bridgestones on standard wheels from the recent Spa trip. The car following (cam car) is Wrightstuff's stage 2 turbo (220bhp?) with upgraded suspension and sticky rubber. I'm all over the track and leaning like the QE2 admittedly, but simply because that was the only way to keep the momentum going due to lack of power.

Aint trying to show off, just to show you what a track novice can achieve with a basic NA. They are awesome  :)
