I read this page nodding away to myself pretending I had a clue what everyone was talking about... I got very lost on "square engine"

As far as I can tell, the answer remains Harrop SC for best results (£:BHP)?

M62 is the best option. You can get the charger, inlet manifold and throttle body for as little as £500 if you do it right. Harrop is £3k+ and to get the most from it you need forged internals and a new exhaust.

That's cheap... definitely the way I'll look at going in the future.

Enjoying raw N/A power at the moment (with a remap and a loud exhaust  :D)

I mean, that alone won't do it. You'll also need a remap, various bolt on parts as well as charge cooler, header tank, pump ect if you want stage 2. But the point is, there's a shed load of M62 chargers out there, but only a handful of harrops.

Yeah, I gather that from reading through the various project threads too. It definitely seems the way to go to get the biggest bang for you buck in an N/A.

Wish I still had all of the cash I wasted on trying to get decent torque/bhp increases between 2003 and 2006😠 Was good to try different things but always a dead end. Yes I could convince myself it was better but that would also mean lying to myself😛 Been there, done it and got more tee shirts than I can wear. IMO you have 3 practical choices, SC or ITB or forget it

Ha ha square as in stroke and bore being the same dimension, like a square is what they mean I suspect. Under square is shorter stoke than bore and over square is well you get my drift  But don't quote me I'm usually wrong  I actually like watching the Stage FA NA videos on the track of them all over much more powerful cars It must be much more satisfying hanging onto the back of some beast with your lowly 145 bhp than just putting your foot down on the straight. I enjoy trying to keep up with the more powerful VX on the road Had a Scooby driver in mine pissing himself at the 145 bhp as he had 400 ish at Brunters but I which I had a video of him holding onto the seat and shouting Oh sh*t on every bend. didn't realise they are that good he said and I'm not a driver like some of these track guys. Think I'd be happy with 30/40 more bhp for that bit more without totally changing the car and the way I drive it.

As someone who is in possession of a forged engine low compression engine I am face with the unenviable situation of picking some type of boost. However I don't particularly like boost and still have to make my mind up whether I go that route. I wish Webcon would release the Alpha 5 ITB kit then my mind would be made up. That is I would increase the compression ratio and get some wild cams and serious head work. Situation is compounded by my wife asking me to take the engine out of the lounge.  There goes my Feng Shui!

I'm surprised the rotrex hasn't been mentioned here.  I know details of the conversions are fairly scarce but thought it'd have been mentioned.  :poke:

Considering dual air filters is the best part of a £50 Halfords gift voucher from his mum, and a Rotrex conversion is minimum £5k, they're not really comparable.

Lmao. The only reason I set a budget was because I didn't want to spend a fortune on a cat c. Looks like it does not make much of a difference with these cars so I'm open to ideas looking into supercharging. I will probably wait till March - April no point in having 250 bhp in the rain or snow

Main non UK components:

GM M62 supercharger 12584331 GM Inlet manifold 12584348

Try to get the supercharger incl the 68mm throttle body.

As many don't t know the parts numbers, source ebay for "cobald ss" or "ion redline" supercharger.

http://www.ebay.com/...harger&_sacat=0

This set is very nice. Just needs a lick of paint. http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=171433178484

Or this combo incl the 68mm TB. http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=291329836790 http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=261706936332

All the rest can be sourced here in the UK. (no benefit from US)

I will have an M62 charger (no intake) for sale in the new year here in the UK, so you can avoid import taxes
