Would definitely look nice, just have to get someone to weld it.

This latest desgn surely looks much neater.

But the first proposal seems easier fast and give a structual strength that is better.

Br, Per

that will fit the vx220 steering column, but really depends which steering wheel you choose  :)

thumbsup.

A SnapOff and OMP steering wheel.

Would it not be better to 'fish mouth' the end of the tube and weld it into the roll hoop?  If you need the offset you could bend the ends in.  That solution doesn't feel right with my OCD!

You mean something like this?

Posted Image

May be difficult to weld all the way around though.

After seeing Zoobeef's toe link failure I decided to switch the bolts for 10.9 instead of 8.8. Hope it helps.

The car also needed some paint work due to and old accident so took it to my brothers garage. The result, well ok for a track day car I suppose :). Just have to live with the flaws until I decide to give the car a new paint.

Having a MOT tomorrow, hope it goes well so I can start using the car for real.

The following mods are new for this year

* Uprights front

* Steering arms

* New 1" arb

* Gaz Gold Pro II suspension

* New bushes, all ball joints, bearings

* 2.4 manifold

All this has really transformed the car, less body roll, better turn in and the manifold just gives you a nice character for the engine.

A couple of pictures.

10.9 instead of 8.8.

Car masked up at the "paintshop" (brothers garage :)).

The V is now silver again, think it looks better.

Have some wet sanding and polishing to do, you can also see how the clear coat of the old paint has chipped when we masked it... not much to do about it.

Nice looking tyres, I'm also thinking about buying them. How do you find them for road use? And on the track how do they compare to toyo or Yokohama?

I bought the full suspension refresh kit from Seriously Lotus.

Actually it´s Nankang NS-2R TW180 rear and Federal 595 RS-R front. Haven´t had any issues on the road and I´m impressed with the grip they deliver on track (for that kind of money).

I don´t have any experience with Toyo/Yokohama or any "track day" tires on a VX220 so can not say.

All that lovely suspension work and effort.. Then I read you're fitting a twin-tube damper from Gaz... :huh:

Yeah I know, my plan all along was to buy Nitron 46 1-way. But they are rather expensive (Gaz 600£ and Nitron 1550£), especially now when the pound is getting really expensive so I coulnd´t persuade myself to buy the Nitrons.

Knowing me I´ll buy them for next year instead :ffs: ...

I had gas golds for years and they were ok. I swapped them for nitron multiway 40's and these are awesome. You would hope so though given the price!

Not worth going 46 over 40's?

Took the car to MOT last week, everything looked great except the handbrake didn´t work at all on the left side thumbsdown . Checked both sides a couple of days before MOT and they worked just fine :ffs: .

The piston doesn´t move when I move the lever so something has fallen apart inside. Luckily I found one on ebay for reasonable money so waiting for the package to arrive

46's are perhaps too strong for road use  :unsure:

I can recommend the Quantums, great pieces of kit  thumbsup

All these decisions... :happy:

I´ve been doing a geo on the car, so now it has this spec

Front

Camber left 1°39'
Camber right 1°47'
Castor left 4°14'
Castor right 4°14'
Toe left -0°02' (toe out)
Toe right -0°02' (toe out)

Rear
Camber left 2°37'
Camber right 2°25'
Toe left 0°13' (toe in)
Toe right 0°13' (toe in)

Also installed the diffuser (again, took it off for the MOT) and a new steering wheel with the snap off. The Corsa B boss I bought didn´t fit on the spline.

Luckily I had some saved parts stored from the old Nova project, found a boss that fit on the spline.

Soldered in cables for the horn and a resistor for the airbag, unfortunately I bought 2.2ohm instead of 2.7 so the light is still on. So just ordered the correct resistor, should turn up in a day or two.

Great Project Tonie, it's good to see it close to finishing now. Maybe you should "pop over" to the UK and show it off to us some time :)
