Quantums or Nitron 40s thumbsup

I would steer clear of 46's. But either of the above would be a more suitable option.

Quantums seem to have produced an excellent alternative for the VX & after I had a back to back test on track with quantums & 46's. The quantums were noticeably better in certain circumstances & i'm converted. That's what I'm replacing my 46's with this month.

Very interesting. May I ask what your spec is on the car such as ride height, geo, tyres, spring rates?

In what way did the quantum feel better? Like in low speed or high speed, turn in, exit.

So I did the mistake to move the car with the air bag disconnected --> nice red lamp showing. If I don´t want to take the car to Opel/Vauxhall dealer, is this the magic thing I´m looking for?

Yeah I painted the rear lights, the front are from a turbo so they´re already black.

Not sure if they would have let the diffuser pass, it´s rather "edgy" and adds some length from the clam. Didn´t want to risk anything.

Chinese OPCOM with the correct software (see guides here) will clear the airbag ecu. Also handy for all other things in the VX/Speedster. thumbsup

Stopped by at the local Opel dealer, took the guy less than two minutes and the light was gone. And he didn´t even want to be paid, rude!

You're welcome anytime :-)

Unfortunately no track day for me, still working on the gear cables. Actually think I finished the cable work yesterday but there is still some work to do (centre console, seat, hand brake, undertrays, cleaning the cabin, cleaning up all the gear box oil that got away last time etc). I also put on the stock wheels for this years MOT.

Last time I looked (about 10 minutes ago) the bridge resistance should be 2 ohms +-0.2.
Br, Per

All these decisions...

I´ve been doing a geo on the car, so now it has this spec

Front
Camber left 1°39'
Camber right 1°47'
Castor left 4°14'
Castor right 4°14'
Toe left -0°02' (toe out)
Toe right -0°02' (toe out)

Rear
Camber left 2°37'
Camber right 2°25'
Toe left 0°13' (toe in)
Toe right 0°13' (toe in)

Also installed the diffuser (again, took it off for the MOT) and a new steering wheel with the snap off. The Corsa B boss I bought didn´t fit on the spline.
Luckily I had some saved parts stored from the old Nova project, found a boss that fit on the spline.
Soldered in cables for the horn and a resistor for the airbag, unfortunately I bought 2.2ohm instead of 2.7 so the light is still on. So just ordered the correct resistor, should turn up in a day or two.

Well I can confirm that 2.7ohm works as well when clearing the lamp with Tech 2/Op-Com or whatever it´s called :).

I was going to stick some resistors in mine until I remembered I'd taken out the airbag ecu aswell :)

Sounds like a better option, but knowing the MOT here in Sweden it´s best to leave it there if I need install the OEM steering wheel again...

With OPCOM you can diagnose the airbag signal resistances and from my memory the belts & airbag give normally a 2.7 Ohm value.

(Buy yourself an OPCOM, it's very handy on a Speedster. )

Hi Toni, I red this on the Opel forum, written by you.

Can you explane this more detailed. How hard did you have the shocks from the begnning and how did you change them?

What tire pressure did you hve and what did you change too?

Do you have stiffer ARB? If so how do you feel the difference?

Br, Per

I´m a little slow updating here I see. Been on two track days now and the car is still alive thumbsup .

First one was on a track I know fairly well so I was really looking forward to see how my new parts would feel.

Unfortunately it was like 300° that day so the grip wasn´t really there. Still managed to do ~120 miles so I was really pleased.

Next track day was on a new track for me and with new pads, switched from Mintex 1155 to Performance Friction 08.

It was like night and day if you compare the pads (not so strange though if you look at what the pfc cost....), now the car really bites and it doesn´t matter if I´m on lap 3 or 14. There is a rather heavy brake point on the track, from 110mhp to 40 but it was really consistent.

Posted Image

Now I have some time off before next track day. The car feels really nice except for in turn in, having problems to "turn the car over", under steer. I have no under steer mid/exit corner.

Going to do a new geo next week and add some more camber front (2.3) and also going to try with some more toe out and hope it will solve my problem.

Any other ideas?

I started the day with 7 front and 4 rear (from hard) and aimed for 1.9 front and 2.0 rear. Struggled  to keep the tyre pressure since it was really hot so had problems to keep the grip at the rear.

Loosened the damper to 12 front and 8 rear and tried to keep the pressure on 2.0 and the car felt much more nice.

I run Nankang NS-2R TW180 (in 235/40-17) rear and not RSR as you do so your car might react differently though.

A stiffer arb yes, EP´s 1" in stiffest setting.

Check this primauto.net/LotusServiceManualEliseS2/elise/Extras/Steering_Setups.pdf Useful to adjust your car settings to stop under steer at a corner entry.
