With a little cutting on the lower part the oem heatshield will perfectly fit. Good for oem look and prevents melting the boot.

Christ, how do you people get away with such tiny exhaust boxes? Surely that is noisey ?

No idea really how loud it is. If a full 3" cat-less exhaust on a SC car is loud then this should be less loud I guess. Turbo kills some noise, 200cell cat kills some noise, 2,5" backbox kills a bit more then 3"...

Will ask the neighbours in a few days how they feel hahaha

Installed the wideband and catchcan tonight, so why not try a teststart?

Vid is on cold engine. After a few minutes it ran nice at idle. Exhaustsound is also nice I think. Low and out there but not loud.

Fix some more little things an d of we go I guess.

Nice.

Are you using the LSJ manifold and TB adaptor as your chargecooler / intercooler, or did you just connect it up without one as a test?

I'm running the B207/LSJ intake manifold with OEM 2.2 throttlebody. No adapter required here.

Start up was with the IC disconnected/by-passed (straight from turbo to TB) since I have to sort the IC piping

....and yes, it looks kinda gettho lol

Ah ok, so the alloy intake manifold. Makes perfect sense I supppose given its designed for use with a turbo, and it's got a much smaller volume than the NA manifold.

Little update...

Due to some medical stuff with the missis, I didnt realy had much time to spend on the VX.
Did some testdriving this summer (well.... about two hours lol) to get the off-boost tune right (OBD-tuner). After long time not running the VX it made me giggle like a baby haha. 1500rpm and the car takes off when only looking at the paddle... instant powerrrr!
Didnt test the power cause I was only checking stuff out and see if all was well. Well.. it was not cause my oilreturn pipe was leaking badly.
After putting the car in the garage about august it took me till last week to simply weld a nice returnpipe:

So now the oilproblem seems to be solved and the oilpan is also back on (shitty job from under the car and by yourself...), I can go on the make some nice ducting for the large intercooler. Small side pod for air intake but large holes around the IC is not good. Need all the air through the IC I can get my hands on.

Will keep you updated ;-)

Another small update so far.

Between breeding horses I also started to fiddle around with handling:

1" ARB and Nitron SS are replacing the old rusted stuff.

Next week we continue with the welding of my intercoolerpipes (yes.. alu welding FTW. No clamps, hoses etc. and saves weight as well).

Grtz,

Had some time for more upgrades:

Regelin jacking shims fitted. Dont have to take off the panels anymore when lifting the rear during MOT. The less sneakypeak in the enginecompartment from the inspector the better...

Posted Image

Me and my mate fiddled around with alu welding. On the left the original testpipe and on the right the alu welded pipe. Less clamps on places you cant reach while all in situ, less chance to blow a pipe while boosting.... and also 1 kg less weight.
Posted Image

To get rid of even more clamps I fitted another turbo-outletpipe and welded a longer pipe on it

Now fit it all and should be able to start her up this weekend!

Yes, let's hope all stays in one piece.

Max output of 250-280bhp and 220-250lbs (300-350Nm) should be achievable with this setup. No use in chasing numbers though as I am limited by the engine and clutch but 250bhp should be the frickin' minimum  :D

No, serious. I'm allready happy if I can drive the VX this season and have some fun. Giving Porsches the finger would be an extra bonus.

Ducting the IC is something that 's got not much attention on here...

I fiddled around and got this simple solution:

Posted Image

The air follows a straight line and flows almost completely passed the IC due to the large gap between IC and clam.

You can obviously build something more slick looking but I was tired and want the car on the road. I molded a 1mm alu plate to shape and pasted it to the IC. We'll see how it does, cant be worse.

Now fix the PCV to pass MOT and check the exhaust for leaks. If all's well I'll rebuild the car this weekend hopefully and take some time to map the car.
