Hey guys, is it too late to join on the groupbuy? Or is it max 10? I didn't want to add my name to the list before I was certain that I wanted this ARB. Is the alloy sleeves required (I have an early 2.2).

Had a flat battery (probably an alarm fault) and its left it with the immobiliser not recognising the key. P1614 IIRC.  I'm hoping disconnecting the battery will solve it or I'll have to get it towed to the stealer.  They want 100 quid just to look at it before applying any fix.  Thieving gits.

I'll probably be in the same boat soon, battery disconnected for 12 months.

Maybe this is the best opportunity to move to the OBD tuner?

Only if OBD tuner allows access to the immobiliser.

Yeah, I've read that.  I'm hoping some general poking around and disconnecting the battery will help. thumbsup

ETA: its just the trouble at t' mill thats stopped me trying it yet.

Why is this ARB better than the £140 Elise-shop arb, which is 2.25x stiffer than the std one? Is the 1" from Eliseparts much better quality, or is 7/8inch diameter not stiff enough? Both are adjustable.

Apparently the 1inch bar is stronger on the minimum setting than the  7/8

Does that make it 3x stronger? :P

LOL!

if you use X1 as the std ARB, then:

7/8" one goes from ~2.3 - 4 X

1" one goes from ~3.5 - 5.9 X

1 1/8" one goes from ~5 - 8 X

realistically, std one does nothing, it;s not till you get to at least 3-4X that you start to feel a significant change.

Having run Geary's VX on the 1", I would suggest that's the minimum I would suggest, for an all out track car I would be looking at the 1 1/8".

Also, stronger is the wrong word, stiffer is what your looking at, which is why it makes almost zero odds what steel you use for an ARB, as although T45 is stronger, it's not stiffer than basic CDS.

Hope that helps...

PS, here's a vid of how they were tested...
