Not since the refresh. I guess it had the Courtenay map when it was SC'd but no real idea.

That would explain the coolant warning light too... I connected it back up, reset the codes, started it a few times and the codes haven't shown back up (so far). Cheers!

Carefull Chris.

Better stay out of topics like these.

Before you know it you'll get sucked into the modding virus, then you also want a 400hp SC VX, and be spending beemer money again.

Exactly what you were trying to get away from.

I had the throttle one before when I did my timing chain, caused by turning the engine with the throttle disconnected. After I cleared it it didn't return.

Wow. Two years since my last update, and pretty much nothing's changed!  :glare:

I had an issue with my clutch not engaging in late 2016 after thinking it was basically finished, and it totally killed my enthusiasm, as I just couldn't bring myself to take it apart again to inspect the clutch. It sat collecting dust while we had an extension built last year, and earlier this year, finally got back on it.

It turned out the clutch *was* engaging, it's just that the CV joint had come apart on the driveshaft, so the wheels weren't turning! That was a huge relief. I can drive it out of the garage now. It's in the final stages, so just need to get the interior back in, check the bolt torques all round and put the boot back on!

I've been concentrating on getting the interior done. Lots of Ultimate Carbon bits to go with the Reverie seats I have waiting to go in. This week, I've painted the centre console and cup holder - it was a right state!

I sanded down just enough to key, then several coats of plastic primer, and finally many, many coats of Vauxhall Rembrandt silver, rubbing down with 1500 grit wet and dry a couple of times in between. I fitted some new U profile rubber and gave the leather gaiter a refresh. It's not perfect because of the deep scratches before, but it is a vast improvement.

Primer: http://www.halfords....rey-spray-300ml

Paint: http://www.halfords....ray-paint-300ml

U profile: http://amzn.eu/g5Q1VcZ (glued down with Unibond Repair Extreme)

I needed two cans of the paint to get a good finish.

Aaaand another two years with nothing done. Well, until now. I may as well get back to documenting this sh*t show of endless procrastination.

It was booked in for Hangar111 to finish it off for me before Covid hit, but now that's cancelled, I've managed to muster the enthusiasm to plug on,and I'm enjoying it, as well as saving myself a fair wedge of cash no doubt.

I've drained and replaced engine & transmission oils and also drained the fuel. No point replacing that yet given my record.

I've replaced a split boot on a toe link and am now onto replacing perished hoses.

Oh , and the reverse light decided to stop working. Switch out, lube, back in, all sorted (that is the much shorter version of the real story which involved a couple of evenings poking around with a multimeter.)

I've replaced a couple of perished hoses on the supercharger - easy. Next is the brake servo vacuum hose. Mine appears to be on the original - not even the recall version with red stripes. I went to cut the ends down where they had split, then discovered it was beyond a quick fix.

F**k me did I need those beers! I'm sure my car just enjoys laughing at me. La la la replace a hose - how hard can it be? I'll follow AustinB's super easy method:

1)    Remove offside sill cover (black bit with triangles).

2)    Remove dash (Not as intimidating as it sounds).

There are 12 more steps, but this is as far as I've got.

1) My car has carbon fibre sills that are a VERY tight fit. To get it out, I had to remove the passenger seat and manhandle the parcel shelf panel.

2) I didn't have radio keys, so spent an hours poking various bits in. Got there in the end. Got to the dash screws easy enough, but there was no way in hell it was going to go past the binnacle. So I've now had to remove the steering wheel, cowl and stack/binnacle.

Half way through, I got fed up and took a break to plastidip my V and windscreen surround - I'm well pleased with the result.

I also swapped over the switch for my sidelights for a Vectra B A/C switch because it didn't light up. New on doesn't either, so possibly points to some other issue...

Oh, and I fitted a Seat front splitter. No issues there.

Going to tackle the hose tomorrow - I think the remaining 12 steps will be a breeze.

I might even tidy the garage a bit.

Look at the state of it under there!

The sidelight indicator light still doesn't work even after swapping for another switch. I guess it could be duff as well, but seems a bit of a coincidence. Also, I assume the 'logos' should light up orange on side & main lights, in the same way as they do for fog lights...

Edit: Ah, you mean logo's, not control lights. The picture is not to clear on that.
Each switch has 2 small light bulbs in them.

Alternatively just replace the bulb. I soldered in an led bulb. It’s a bit brighter but should last the lifetime of the car. Sorry no link as it was a few years ago.
