Really nice power output.

How much extra bhp did you get from the mapping?

I really have no idea, this was the first time the 2.5 engine has been mapped.

What sort of power/torque would this conversion net with the webcon gear?

The Webcon throttle bodies kit is just a starter pack, you need to consider what bhp you want and then source the parts required. To get past 200 requires the balancer delete and 11:1 CR, some cams, a ported head and a decent 4-1 manifold and 2.5" system.

Stage 1 cams are usually around 200-210 bhp, stage 2 cams 210-230 bhp, stage 3 cams 220 - 240bhp. After that CatCams do some nice cams, I run their 287 versions.

Great result. Must be one of the nicest vx power trains anywhere! It must be very well built to be able to rev a long stroke engine well above 7k rpm. What's the mean piston speed at max rpm?

MPS will be 24.5m/s @7500RPM. VERY nice work Vocky.

You dont know how much bhp you gained between first and last pull? How much extra bhp did you get from the mapping?

I really have no idea, this was the first time the 2.5 engine has been mapped.

It made 255 bhp at 7100 on the first run, now it makes the same at 6250 rpm

Any videos of it in action or have you taken it back apart already to continue fettling?

Vocky's 2.5 engine with slightly larger bore will have a bore / stroke ratio will have pretty much the same as a standard 2.2 engine. Plus he has a lightened, balanced crank and various under drive ancillaries like the water pump and alternator..

My basic 2.4 rev's as easily / keenly as a 2.2 for example, again because it has a very similar bore / stroke ratio.

It's more the rod-length vs.crank-stroke ratio that determines the willingness at high rpms. (Angled rod that drives the piston into the wall, therefore the 2.2 has the longest rod of the Ecotec family...)

it needs a new crank sensor bracket and it also needs cleaning, so it's sat back in the garage until I can find some time to look at it.

which works perfectly and I now have 7650rpm to play with rallly

Mapping always seems to make my vx quieter

Damn cold out there today, had to pull into a layby and put the soft top on, it quickly got rather toasty with my tweaked heater kicking out loads of heat

It has done at least 400 miles in the last year Mr Nev

Well okay 60 miles were on the rolling road and it must have been at least a 40 mile round trip there and back, so 100 miles in one day :P
