Everyone is different. My VXR had fresh Ohlins set resanabley soft by the previous owner and reasonably high compared to my NA ride hight, they felt superb for going to the shops 😂 The NA on the zeros was much more to my liking on the twisty roads when making progress. Would liked to have had the Ohlins set firmer and a tad lower to compare.

Maybe this whole thread is a subtle 'I have piles' confession?

Ouch! I think a lot of it is down to lots of the cars running their original suspension, which might be leaking or have poor valving, and either way is 10-15 years old. Compared to a knackered billie anything will feel firm so maybe that's why it's dividing opinion and feel.
This. When I removed my old dampers they all did nothing and you could move them in and out with two fingers but as they slowly get knackered you slowly get used to them without realising they don't work 😂 Specially if your a sensible road driver only, like me 👍😂 then any new kit feels firmer

When I do a refresh of my suspension I'm thinking of having the same setup.

I've got all of the same kit sat here in the garage after taking it all off my car - front and rear adjustable ARB's and the custom valved and sprung Nitron NTR's. Was nice on the road but I think it was ultimately compromised on track, or at least my use of it was, though I'm still not entirely convinced by the dual rate springs on the Quantum's either.

I never go on track.

Let me know if you're flogging it for peanuts. :)

I think Matt Bentley hit the nail il on the head for me when he said the std turbo set up was too soft for track. My std turbo had so much roll on track. Slightly off topic but my Nitrons feel soft in comparison to my RS Megane Cup. That's rock hard!

Thanks for that.  I'd appreciate it if you could confirm the internal diameters of both for me  thumbsup

Internal diameters of both are 1 and 7/8 inches. External diameter of both are 2 and 7/8 inches. : thumbsup :

The conclusion from all of the above posts is that Lotus and Bilstein had it right from the box and everything else is marketed to remove the pounds from your pocket.

^^^ Yeah that. How can you argue with so many years of experience and R&D. It's the reason I decided to source new VXT dampers and oem spring rate springs. Only problem I came across was finding new VXT front springs (without being bum raped by Vauxhall) and so very slightly compromised by going with Exige S2 front springs which are very very slightly softer.

Where did you source the Exige S2 front springs from?

I got them from Lotus and pointed Lee in the same direction.  But by the time Lee approached them they were out of stock and had a bit of a struggle to get hold of them.  As Lee says, just buy his.  Easiest way.   thumbsup
