I cant understand the logic of using Webcon when there is so many more user friendly ecu's available, such as DTA, Emerald, Omex or Canems.

Itbs?

The only thing you "have" to buy from them is the inlet manifold for the dcoe to z22 bit. The rest is open season IMHOI cant understand the logic of using Webcon when there is so many more user friendly ecu's available, such as DTA, Emerald, Omex or Canems.

Manifolds can be made easily.
I've made my own before,
Lotus ITB's onto Pug 306 gti6 engine, not DCOE pattern....

Hindsight is a wonderful thing 😀 The closed ECU was part of a complete kit and since I had no interest in calibrating it myself, I didn't think it would be an issue. I've talked to 3 of the 4 companies you mention and 2 of them are even quite positive about using the stupid z22se crank trigger pattern and worse case for Stack temp display is some kind of microcontroller.I cant understand the logic of using Webcon when there is so many more user friendly ecu's available, such as DTA, Emerald, Omex or Canems.

Exactly. If you want a simple bolt-on kit instead of cocking about digging up bits and pieces, various bike carbs plus a cable operated pedal and an ECU to run it all , then Webcon is the only option available.I imAgine it's because a loom is off the shelf which makes life easier

The new webcon alpha 5 is a joy to use and I'm happy to remap on that.
Is it "open" now?
if so then atleast they have joined 1999

So £6-7k including the engine?
this pretty much sums up the ITB route I am unsure how much the Webcon ITB kit costs these days. It certainly will be over £2.5k and coupled with a good full exhaust at £1.5k means you have then spent £4k without even touching the engine. Stage 2 or 3 cams, better valve springs and raising the CR to 11:1 works very well on the ITB engines. I would also advise to fit a 4.17 final drive gearbox - code SGFor the itb's to work well it's worth getting a decent exhaust 2.5" and manifold. Then you want cams/springs and the head porting and skimming to increase compression. While the head is off fit improved rods for reliable high rpm. You will then have 220 ish Bhp and around 170 ft/lb. not sure on costs but not cheap maybe 4-5k (not including the exhaust and manifold) depending on how much work you can do yourself and the current cost of the itb kit.
probably around that figure
However the question really should be ... is it worth spending all that to go ITB
Oh yeah
you simply cannot beat the sound they produce

yep great sound.
They really need to get this Pro5 ECU working on our kit.
Also, if you value your credit card privacy, just do not order anything from the Webcon website. Just don't

I think Mark had some issues with the tacho input on his stack , or the limited scale, so runs a standalone guage.

One could be for sale soon .a real gem on a new engine by vocky special hand s And does it goes ...yes and no oil use either Just fitting two new track road end ball joint tomorow with a new geo.. Full service history as well from day one ...Lastly, are you thinking of selling an ITB'd car soon. Thank you

so I assume that needs Webcon to resolve?

Marks loom is non standard, so we think too much current fried the stack and a couple of other cheap chinese tachos , as it was the gear shift indicator light, not a PWM signal expected.

No. Webcon said the only reason I had a problem was that my set up was one of the first they did and they hadn't standardised the loom. I could have got it to work by changing some wiring but went for an aftermarket Spa tacho that logs max revs and has built in shift lights and other fancy sh*t. It's just the temp gauge that won't work.

temp gauge should be possible to interface to , the sender should be standard negative temperature coefficient type

Stack temp gauge works with some weird PWM signal and not that easy with the temperature NTC sensor. We use a small PIC board with a look-up table. Perfect as long as it worked. (probably a voltage supply issue, needs sorting but low prio...)
Or use a secondary temp gauge...

Don't underestimate the importance of an "open" ECU even if you're not interested in messing about with the calibration. Mine hasn't turned a wheel in 18 mths, mainly because various small niggles that could easily be solved with ECU access mean a trip on a trailer to Northampton and because I've lost the love I CBA.
What colour is your car you CBA with?
