Has anyone tried this?

https://www.carbuild...-seal-per-metre

Jon

Thanks Jon. I think we might be able to do a little better. We’ve got a good relationship with the supplier so initial setup costs and MOQ’s shouldn’t be a problem. I could do with sending them a sample of the Cross-Sectional profile and don’t seem to have any old ones lying around that I can butcher at the moment.

This may not be the quickest thing to resolve as we’re extremely busy with some big jobs on customer cars at the moment and it’s also peak racing season but we are trying to keep some momentum going. If anyone has a seal they could donate, it’d be really helpful at this stage.

Thanks,

Ben

Thanks Ben,

I have nothing that can be used as a demo (as you know) but I would be interested in purchasing replacements if we can find a solution.

Kind regards,

Jon

Still planning to do this but lots on at the mo. Might be a Winter project at this rate unless someone else is still running with it. Hope to have more news soon!

I have a good seal that can be measured. I would want it back though, not in butchered!

Cheers for the kind offer but it’s a XSA sample they need. I should be able to sort this over the winter no problem but I know that’s not ideal. Just trying to keep a lot of plates spinning.

MMG is very busy at the moment so need to prioritise customer work. Hopeful for a very productive week though.

We have also been looking into this. We have an OEM sample of a lotus seal with a company in Germany which they say they can copy. We haven’t got as far as quotes yet. MOQ is 250 pairs though.
*IF* they are at least OEM quality with stainless internals I think we’d be looking at around £100 each.

We’re getting a lot closer to actually having the first samples ready from the supplier. Hopefully in the next month or so. Tooling them up as we speak. Once approved, it’s going to be another similar wait for production units.
Delivered cost is yet to be confirmed, but £100 each side is in the right ball park.

Still waiting for the samples! I am told that the first off weren’t good enough so the tool had to be modified.

I will update this thread as soon as there is anything to report. I don’t want it to turn into another headlight saga but it’s somewhat out of my hands.

Thanks, but we’re quite a long way down the road with tooling. Just that the supplier is not very responsive...
First sample was 90% there.

I’d be interested in both sides, tried Vauxall, they only had N/S and wanted £148

They will be *substantially* less than that, and with stainless inserts so won’t bubble up again. :)

Just need patience!!
