Great results 😎 Ivor, Steve aka Crabash knows more than most ref the W/I and completed a few proven setups. I would drop him a PM and always very helpful, may be able to supply kit required DG

the new bmw m4 uses a new bosch WI system , I prefer very high pressure chemical cooling , pure water , rather than meth mixes.

Depends if you're knock limited

Looks good, did you have to move the tmap sensor because of the setup or was that already done?

I moved the tmap sensor as I wanted the ECU to see the lower inlet temps and as std it stuck on the intercooler it wont see the new temps

I had a bigger jet fitted before the intercooler and a smaller one after the IC

Then the Tmap was bossed into the tophat to read the lower inlet temps

Then allowed me to tweek the map to use the extra octane and lower inlet temps

Is this an off the shelf kit? IE can it be purchased in one or do you have to have a shopping list? Seriously interested in doing this...

Yeah the link chill added was the kit Remember to add a water bottle too and the aquamist is too tall for the boot so u might have to buy another brand. Also worth noting the nozzle size and locations can and will make a difference to the performance.

If it's too tall for the boot where have you put it!

I use the 2.2 litre window washer tank But have see the tank mounted behind seats or I've seen people mounting them in the sill just in front of thecear So really it can be mounted anywhere

i have just perchased a AEM meth kit purely to keep knock down, glad you have proven results, i have a custom charge cooler set up which seems to keep intake temps down to around 30 but im yet to increase from base boost. the meth kit is just to help it when i do turn it up to 1.6 bar, so hopefully see similar results.

To keep knock down ? Surely you shouldn't have knock anyway

i run a saab b204 engine in my vx220 its the one one to be converted, intake temps can rise dangeruosly quick in them and can trigger fuel cut which seriously can be dangerous as it like a very heavy missfire

The bottle doesnt come part of the kit, its extra

As the Aquamist bottle is too tall for the boot I just bought another brands meth bottle (3 litres) which was the biggest I could find that would fit in the boot. Maybe a wider lower bottle would work too if you can find such a thing...

Chill how are you finding the smaller 2.2 tank as I found with mine the fail safe kicked in when the bottle still had about 20% meth remaining. Now this is a good thing so it doesnt suck up air but then does mean that you dont quite get the full 2.2L or 3L in my case.

on the road I hardly use any meth but on the rollers or in your case the track I did use much more

The 2.2 litre header tank shape helps, better than a square bottomed tank I suppose it depends on how much you are injecting plus my second map ( road/ failsafe )just curves the ignition back to a level where I was prior to water injection My statergy with it was to inject as little as possible just enough to keep things cool AT a recent track day I had enough to do this for over 25 min session I have a stepped rate controlled by my ecu where anything below 40 degree I inject at 80% Anything over 40 degrees I inject at 100% ( which so far quickly drops temps down below 40 ) and anything over 70 degrees injects 120% I also think I may be able to inject even less after some more testing

I use the AEM system with a 50/50 water meth mix on mine and my IAT's barely go over 30 degrees. The system uses the 0.5mm jet and at 20psi boost only runs at 36% duty cycle, the 1 gallon tank lasts for ages. The intake manifold was still nice and cool after a few hours on the dyno. I also don't start to inject until it reaches 46% duty cycle

I think the meth really has a lot of potential but it was never my intention to use it I don't want to push my block any further Just want to keep things cooler with as little injection of 100% water as possible

I use the AEM controller at it's lowest settings, it doesn't start injecting until the boost goes over 11psi and wouldn't be at a 100% until the boost would reach 36psi. As I only run my boost at 20psi at maximum at the moment, the water meth duty cycle never goes over 36% Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
