Perhaps an idea to take pictures of the whole process to help the people that can't make it. Or even for an installation manual for the VX220. It's not that difficult, but there are some choices you have to make like where to position the unit and how to run the cables for example.

And don't forget the clutch switch for launch control and flat shifts

Ditto. That would be extremely useful for those of us interesting in buying but doing a DIY install.

A good example is some of the SC installation guides.. ;)

Noted Alexa,

As I said previously, we will be making a DIY guide (with photos) step by step for other VX people that cannot make it 👍

Kind regards,

Jon

I can do either day but need to be back by early afternoon will this be a problem? Is there anything we can do ahead of the day to reduce installation time? Removing panels etc?

I do not know vx220 by heart, so it will be helpful to find how to route cables from ABS unit to cabin and from engine bay to cabin. I think most of you will want TCS in the cabin. If you decide to put it in engine bay, then some cool place will be preferrable and we need to figure out how to route cables from ABS to engine bay.

Which microswtich to buy is another matter. I did not do it on vx220 , so forum members that did it already are welcome to share the secret :).

TCS can indicate status on dash via handbrake led (i prefer it from using external led). This will require taking off handbrake cover so we can solder into handbrake switch.

Sorry to hijack the thread but seemed a sensible suggestion for those traveling a fair distance. I'll open s thread on the track day page so please respond there..

Hi Guys,

I think new have to limit the installations now to those that have responded as poor old Jacek now has two full days with Saturday over running already and some installations needing to run past the RLM opening times. (will have to be finished outside so hope for good weather)

Here is the plan so far taking into account peoples preferences and locations:

Sat Opening times 9-2PM

  • 9AM - Ash_gt4
  • 11AM - Di3sel
  • 1PM - Nev
  • 3PM - Nav X
  • 5PM - Ayresy

Sun Opening times 9-5PM

  • 9AM - Turboboy
  • 11AM - Gadget2
  • 1PM - Ivor
  • 3PM - Dean02
  • 5PM - MartynM

DIY.

  • Matt555
  • Swast4

We will create a how to guide (with pictures) and postage will need to be arranged (TBA)

All further additions please feel free to add yourself to the DIY.

Hi Nev,

In response to your clutch switch request please find the below response from Jacek who is on holiday:

2) clutch micro switch -if some people want it it will make the installation more time consuming. I suggest we use then 5 core cable instead of 4 to led/ potentiometer and 1 wire is left for clutch input. Microswitch can be added by the owner later and it should be easy job.

Dear all,

Jacek is coming from Poland for installations and can get to Kettering train station.

Can anyone put him up locally for a couple of nights at all?

Or pick him up from the train station at all on the Friday evening / Sat early AM?

Any offers greatly appreciated.

I would help myself but Im in Newark, Notts - completely the wrong side unfortunately.

Can anyone explain to me what is this microswitch and why we need it? Apologies, but I am totally clueless..

Happy to get the answer in another topic (like this: http://www.vx220.org...l-alternatives/) if we don't want to hijack the group buy thread.

Hi Ivor, would you be up for a swap with me? I’m at 5pm Sunday. It would help me get back to a family birthday meal in the evening?

As for the light I googled the sunset times and it’s 6pm sunset so should have another hours light before it starts to get too dark, depending on how overcast or clear the sky’s are I guess. It’s also the last weeekend before the clocks go back.

Thanks Jon for organising all of this so well and precise! 👍🏼
