Once they can't decently taks on petrol alone, they will switch to a big brother device in your car, and tax you per mile, regardless what you drive.

Mmmm, maybe, a worrying thought.

I’m concerned about the tax aspect. How will HM Gov supplement it’s dwindling revenue from fuel taxes as EV take up increases and less petrol and diesel is sold..I can only assume by punitively increasing the tax rate on fuel thereby making ICE cars less and less viable and ultimately prohibitively expensive to use. £2, £3, £4 per litre in a few years ?

They are only not taxing EVs and offering free/cheap charging currently to increase takeup... once they hit critical mass, they will just start taxing the hell out them just like everything else!

A per mileage driven charge has been discussed I believe, ie road tolls every where
