This is a way to provide insulation, suggested by dude. 2 0,5 mm SS tin sheets separated by 5 mm.

Lagging the manifold works very well (cost £25), but the heat needs dispersing and it will move along to the rest of the exhaust. Why not use the exhaust lagging behind the stainless heatshield, that would work, leave the gap between the two sheets and glue it to the body.

You mean a insulation blanket behind the stainless sheet thingy? The blanket glued to the body?

Exactly like that, the first stainless sheet would take the main heat, the second sheet would receive radiated heat and the exhaust lagging would easily absorb any remaining heat. I can touch the lagging on my wR when the engine is hot (not for long but its not burning hot)

Seems it runs pretty close the frame (red in the piccy). I´ll have to investigate if there is a risk that it touches the frame, if the engine moves about.

There is a engine support just at the same level so i expect that any movement is around that support, and then there would be no problem

Anyone? Steve Crisp? Dude? Imnotworthy

By that photograph develops an optical deception. Dre distance to the framework amounts to 15mm!! No contakt when engine running. :) regards thomas
