Might as well start a league table! :)

Arcade mode, standard spec, medium tyres, no drivers aids

VX
1. 8'48.734 speedyK

VXT
1. 8'34.??? geofflowe

If you get a time that beats those, take a photo of your TV and stick it into your post as well as cut and pasting this table and updating it with your new time.

Sound OK to everyone?

Ben

I did post an 8min 44 above, but here's the pic.

I'm in A spec with a completely standard, out-of-the-box Speedster on road tyres (like my real one).

Manual not auto, as Ricky says. In the GT section, instead of arcade, you can look at the data logger afterwards showing top speed at various points, etc. I'm constantly over-revving it in 2nd where I should theorectically be in 3rd. You can race against your ghost (of your best time in the session) too and try diffrent approaches to see if you gain or lose out.

that is the classic" Ring beginners's mistake" :P thumbsup

never use 2nd gear with the N/A speedy, other than take-off.
everything is 3-4-5 only.
I now keep 4th gear even when I could use 3rd in some downhill areas..... better overall flow.

2 questions: how do you get rid of the music while driving?!? I want to hear the engine music, and not that dumb-ass jappo-rock... :P are there more (hidden?) tuning options, other than upping power to max 175hp (n/aVX),reducing weight and using softer tyres??

Hmmm... had a few more tries but not improved my time. Every time I'm ahead of the game, I worry about backing off and being too careful – end up trying to squeeze that liiiiittle bit more and WHAM! into the armco I go  I blame the white wine this evening – must try this again when I'm 100% (sober, not p*ssed!). Ricky, I've switched off the music in ALL modes, even replay. You need to go into options before you go into arcade or GT mode and you'll find the sounds settings there thumbsup As for hidden tuning options, I've not looked at the Speedster, but on the little Autobianchi I won, I whacked on a Turbo, did some engine and exhaust work and it was around 200bhp, so more must be possible for the Speedster, surely. I also bought a 106GTI (of course) and ran it in the FF Challenge. Had to turbo that as well – cool with the lightened flywheel, racing exhaust, etc. Your (real) Speedy must be fantastic to drive. I should be so lucky in Switz.

Nah, but the photo mode is quite good if you like playing with cameras as well as cars.

I had clocked up nearly 500kilometers on my GT mode Speedster, so I just gave it an oilchange and a wash in the GT shop. BHP has now gone up to 152, so I'll go with you guys and use the arcade mode so that bhp remains normal. I'll set it to the default "medium" tyres too, instead of road then we are "playing on an even field" :)

Ricky, have you got any times yet? As our resident 'Ring King you are best placed to judge how accurate GT4 is. What were you getting in your (real) Speedy before you began to drastically mod it and how does that compare to your virtual times?

Oh yes! Picked up a copy this evening and been playing with the camera function. Managed a 9:03 on my second lap of the ring - need more practice.

tonight I finally had some time to toy around..... only got an 8,48 so far....with a coupla of armco-times included... :( seems like I can't get a full lap w/out a graze!! :D ...shocking the accellerative power (and quietness) of the Ruf porker... :o so far seems astonishingly accurate... playing in a "mule" 15' tv, I'm having a bit of a problem to accurately discern the braking points.... I might have to move to the 32 inchers+surround (will it work?) and see how different it feels...

Anything goes ;) It's a VXT with spoiler for downforce, race tyres, about half of the available engine mods and first 2 stages of weight reduction. There's a few more available mods which should help - need to do some races to raise cash though.
