It's f :9mm: ing disgraceful! This is their FLAGSHIP car .. a VXR220, and they've practically written it off!?!!? They can't replace the car because they were limited run and don't make them anymore.. It's a total, TOTAL joke. I would fleece them for everything and would be going ballistic down there at the Dealer principle/manager/owner right now if it were me! Hope they sort it out. ARGH!!!!! MAKES ME SO MAD! -andy-

One of the reasons I go to PLANS. They test drive the car on the tracj and there is nothing to spin into!! Plus the guys know what they are doing!!!

True true... Hope you get the best possible result considering the circumstances. When i used to have a Clio the Renault dealership was quite small so they left cars on the petrol station forecourt. Mine got reversed into and needed a lot of work doing. I was obviously incredibly angry but remember accidents do happen, plenty of people defend others for 'spinning on diesel' so you never know, it might of been down to bad luck. Nevertheless i'd go mental if they'd let a trainee or under 21 drive a VXR! -Rob

Sorry to hear; I'd be gutted. Agreed re not taking a repaired car back due to resale probs. Wonder how the "technician" (lol) who did it is feeling? Bet he's blaming diesel.. Perhaps he should drink some.

Isn't it kind of irreplacable isn't it as there was a limited run there are no more? If written off, I'd insist the bastards rebuilt it around a new tub and loaned you a VX in the meantime. To slam it into something sideways means the grease monkey wasn't exactly treating your property with the correct level of respect. I'd want blood.

Sorry to hear about this, and I totally agree with Waverunner. If the car is repaired, I would either refuse to accept it back (in which case you would have to come to an agreed value *before* the incident), or demand a significant amount of compensation for loss of value of the car. I think they would be on shakey ground refusing either, and if there really was no reason for the test drive I'd be pushing for absolutely everything I could get.

Gutted for you. That is a disgrace. I hope you get the resoluion you want. I am not looking forwards to when mine needs a service, I think I will stick a big note to the car window stating the mileage and that NOONE is to take it for a drive without me being present in the car. I think I will also ask to personally meet the mechanic responsible for the car and doing the actual service. I still haven't decided which dealer should do it.

Gutted for you. Having had to confront a dealer following major damage to my car (not the VX), I can't imagine the feelings following your call this morning...

Sorry to be a bit pedantic but can someone clear up a few questions... (I'm don't want to jump to conclusions :D) - Where was the wall? Within the bounds of the dealership? Inside the garage? In the car park? If not, how far away from the garage is it? - What time was the crash? Within a normal working day? - What were they doing with the car that would require a test-drive? (to me, a service and paint defect would not justify a test-drive) - Who was driving it? A mechanic? If so, are they the garage's VX specialist? A salesman? Management? Are they an experienced driver? I would not be happy to accept my (now) accident-repaired car back. If it was me, I would treat it along the lines of picking up something in a shop and then dropping it. You would be expected to pay the marked price for it. I would demand that the garage either: - pay me an amount equal to the price of an equivalent VXR as sold from a Vauxhall forecourt. The NetworkQ website should give a good pointer as to this figure. - supply to me an equivalent (or better) non accident repaired VXR from NetworkQ stock. Plus any justifiable expense I had incurred: - Equivalent hire car (not just a corsa courtesy car) from the original expected pickup date to settlement (there are companies that can arrange this) - Phonecalls - Time off taken - Petrol for visits to garage Possibly plus a goodwill gesture (that would persuade me not to complain to Vauxhall management and/or send the story to the local and national press), maybe one or more of the following: - a trackday - a Palmersport day - an extended warranty - a future annual service - VX220 luggage - A weekend break - etc., etc.

Should'nt this price also include for the cost of the mods as well?

Was it Diesel? Sorry to hear that, Sean. I'm guessing they would have to have been driving quite hard as it was not icy this morning (6C) andf I know you have an LSD

exactly what Tim says!

Find out as much detail as possible, as quickly as possible. Don't give them time to start thinking of excuses... This might come in very useful later on in the repair / compensation / litigation process. I don't think it will end up going down the legal proceedings route as they don't have a leg to stand on - but better safe than sorry!

Good luck and gutted for you!
