If there's a discount on the NA back box I would be interested. But it would need to be cheaper than the price on the website currently (same as tubby above).

The payment would be to larini direct.

Each of us in the group buy would need to phone up and place our orders with them within a specified time period. Thye would then apply the discount to our orders, based on the number of people that have ordered within the time.

I'd be very interested if the replacement NA (when I find one) doesn't already have an aftermarket backbox. My old one had a VSE and I just couldn't go back to a standard backbox.

They are probably not as good as miltek (powerwise) but the sound is something else (after all, we are not all tracking the car every week and to make mine sound more like it looks is the object of this exercise). the price does include delivery within the uk. Larini themselves will take payment and they will keep a book for the group buy (so let them know when you have any correpondance), so they will also stipulate an end date and that will be it. Superior Sound - The common complaint with the Vauxhall VX220 2.2 16v is its 'flat' sound. We have eradicated this. Our System sounds phenomenal throughout the rev range and screams in the higher rev range. Using octave band frequency monitoring techniques we have been able to develop a System which produces the Larini 'Note' under acceleration as opposed to the resonance, drone and excessive volume present in other aftermarket systems.



Our System does have more volume than the original but it is not offensive. The volume increases with revs so as not to intrude into the cabin, but sounds fantastic when 'pushing', gaining volume with throttle input, and is perfectly practical for everyday use. You’re VX220 2.2 16v will now sound as spectacular as it looks.

Furthermore, torque increase is higher than that of a de-cat pipe as backpressure levels are modulated optimally. Once fitted, no modifications will be required to the engine management system.



NB: Vehicles manufactured post 1994 require a catalytic converter for U.K. MOT emissions legislation. Vehicles subject to U.K. police roadside emissions checks may struggle if running a de-cat pipe. They will not if equipped with a Larini 'Sports' Cat - in fact they will register cleaner emissions over the OE catalysts.



Technical:



The VX220 2.2 16v OE, single piece, cat section incorporates a primary catalyst followed by a secondary catalyst. This is to regulate low emissions levels for the Speedster. These stock ceramic cats offer a combined 600 cells per square inch, offering an approximate 55% flow area. These factory cats are hugely restrictive. Ultimately, this combined arrangement saps power. Enhancing power from within this area involves carefully tuning a singular catalyst to work with the manifold.



A Larini METALLIC ‘Sports’ Cat for the VX220 2.2 16v incorporates only 200-cells, is rated up to 300 bhp, and offers a flow area of approximately 96%. This arrangement is the performance ideal - significantly adjusting backpressure levels and enabling increased flow rates. Exhaust flow is almost completely unobstructed through this 'sports' component and as result there is an extremely noticeable power gain and a significant increase in torque. The complete cat section is manufactured using larger diameter pipework to aid gas outflow. Once fitted, one can expect much sharper throttle response from a now free-revving engine, with cooler operating temperatures. Temperatures are reduced, as accelerated gas-flow minimizes engine-bay temperatures by dissipating heat more effectively. This is particularly important for improved performance, as cooler temperatures boost engine efficiency while protecting the manifold from damage.



Furthermore, a stronger braided stainless steel flexible bellow is incorporated in the cat section, to cope with the increase in engine performance output.



A Larini Cat is Euro-3 emissions level rated - returning cleaner emission results than the standard catalysts, making it possible for vehicle tuners to obtain high power gains, whilst meeting government emission levels and staying road-legal with high reliability. Unlike illegal de-cat pipes, there are no negative technical consequences associated with fitting this innovative product - the original lambda probes are retained in their correct positions for the proper operation of the OBD II (On Board Diagnostics II) system. Furthermore, fitting the Larini ‘Sports’ Cat guarantees an increase in the crispness of the engine’s 'note' and 'tone'.



The improved quality of a Larini ‘Sports’ Cat is immediately noticeable as soon as it is removed from its box.

The Larini ‘De-Cat’ Pipe is a high temperature resistant, hollow pipe, which replaces the highly restrictive OE primary/secondary catalytic converter section. Exhaust flow is completely unobstructed through this larger diameter 'straight-through' component and as result there is an extremely noticeable power gain. Temperatures are reduced too, as accelerated gas-flow minimizes engine-bay temperatures by dissipating heat more effectively. This is particularly important for improved performance, as cooler temperatures boost engine efficiency. Engine performance is notably aided, once coupled with the Larini ‘de-cat’ pipe. A stronger braided stainless steel flexible bellow is also incorporated, to cope with the increase in engine performance output.



Furthermore, the muffling effect provided by the bulky OE catalysts is eliminated, significantly enhancing volume levels.

Is the exhaust different for NA and VXT as letter for NA is identical to one I received for VXT enquiry. Would 15 in total be enough for discount or 15 of each? Am interested as want more noise. Am confused as to primary and secondary parts. and de-cat pipe. Anyone explain this to mechanical minded midget? Add me to list if can get 20% off

Nice man at Larini explained it in e-mail Q. Presumably the combination of sports system + DeCat adds 8 BHP and not the sum of the individuals 5+8 = 13BHP increase? A. Sports Exhaust System = + 5bhp PLUS Primary De-cat = + 8 bhp = 13 bhp combined. Q. Also have seen that several people from VX220.org.uk website ( this is how I heard of you) are attempting to get a group discount. Is this time limited ? If so how long and do we need a minimum No. to qualify? A. The group buy discount structure is as follows: 2-4 units = 10% discount 5+ units = 15% discount 15+ units = 20% discount Please check the board to see when the time closes, which I imagine will be within the next 2 weeks.

The £452 on the website is ex-VAT. Adding VAT at 17.5% and then subtracting the group discount at 20% brings you back down to £440.
