tbh if i were going into production with clams i would keep it as simple as poss (modular build as previously suggested with separate/ differing boot pods (bolt or bond in)) and nock'm out cheap as poss , take over from vxl espesily if insurance firms found out that they could get hold of a cheaper superiour clam?!! then offer carbon fiber from the same molds for a premium ( but still cheaper then oem!!) B) as for those front vents i just thought they look nice!! didn't think about what's in the way to the wheels / brakes :P

I can't be alone in thinking that looks the nuts??

You can buy the cutouts and grills from edel-car-parts.de (stupid site wont let you link directly but they're in the Speedster -> Aerodynamik section) for €219. I guess any decent bodyshop with fibreglass experience can fit them and blend them in relatively easily. thumbsup

If or when I need a front clam I'd go for this. IMHO it looks more in keeping with the angular design of the VX than a couple of little round and totally ineffectual spotlights.

They wouldn't be that tricky to do, but what would you put behind the hole? Send me a pic of your girlfriend and I'll consider arranging it ;)

If I can't get Vauxhall to sort out my bubbles, and I end up getting it sorted at my expense, I will be most definitely getting that site translated (my GCSE German is failing me..) and getting quotes to have these put in. They really look the DBs..

i guess everyone else must have good taste!!! re the front clam styling!!

had a look at techiey's link and unfortunatly they aren't the same they look way to big :(

Posted Image
as you can see below theses look totally in preportion to the car unlike the above

Posted Image

i would almost say that they transform the front into what it SHOULD look like, B) unlike ALL of the other clam mods, that imho make the car look chavey (don't mean any offence to anyone!!)

As for what they could do?, well i was thinking that they could have some form of collector and ducting to cool the brakes?? there's allready a mod to remove the front fogs and duct the cool air to the brakes?? :borg:

so judging to the reaction to this mod

i would certinly be looking to offer this as an upgrade to the original, also say the carbon fibre version to garantie sales!! :groupjump:

Ah, great thinking severnless, it shouldn't be too tricky to put in a bolt in brake cooling duct collector, which is painted satin black and sits behind the grill... Does anyone have some of those ducts from the german site already? Once the mould is made it should be fairly easy to integrate them into the lower section with a bolt on collector. Pre-shaped good quality mesh should be pretty simple to fit behind them. Thoughts?

Paul, had a look through Merlin motorsport, web site and they can supply collectors for £15-£20 in abs plastic (black) as below

so it's just a mater of getting the right size?

as for the actual mod to the clam, can your mate have a go with one of the spare clam's? to make a buck? for the mould?
for the grill itself there's plenty of hardware outlet's commercial and public that can supply it in rather large sheets
hope this helps?

oh look the site is crashing again! thumbsdown

Someone I chatted to today thinks they know where they're from.

severnless - Those plastic collectors would be great, hopefully it's possible to get hold of ones which are large enough. Standard moulds will be done first then modified ones.
