Nice collection! Must be some decent money in breading then too looking how much some morphs are! But I'm quite happy with my £20 normal haha.

Gave him a bath the other day as he was struggling with shedding. He loved it and now sometimes goes through his water bowl instead of round it, i think I thought him to swim haha.

He has a tiny bit of old skin about an inch long on his 'neck' behind his head, what's he best way of getting it off?

You can just gently pull it off. Best to do when its been in the water or is in the water. Just spent a while pulling tons of skin off my Sailfin, Funny how he lifts his leg in the air as if to say get this lot off me  Then he eats most of it My snake always shed cleanly in one piece, eyes ,mouth and a full skin every time

They are great, have you had them from hatchlings ? Breeding ?

The last time I saw more than one together was at the local pet shop. Two massive ones in the same tank on holiday.

But they both got hold of the same rat and got wrapped round each other in a feeding frenzy.

We had to lift them out and untangle them, the rat split in half  I held one at the back of its head and its body

and put it back in the tank,Bloody strong things. The owner used a stick and a hook on his and would not get to

close, the wuss

I got it off with a bowl of water and rubbing it on the skin.

May have to watch next time and raise the humidity a bit more as I'm guessing it wasn't quite right

Sounds like you managed fine :) pay particular attention for stuck eye caps and the very tip of the tail after sheds as these are the main problem causing areas ;)

Next time you see him comeing into shed just give him a light misting in the morning and that should do the trick, either that or move the water bowl slightly towards the warmer end of the viv to raise the humidity slightly

Cheers they are pretty cool, I have 10 royals at the moment all of the morphs from hatchlings and three normal bought as adults to breed.

Also have boas and hognose snakes but only a couple of these, what snake you got?

Yea never ceases to amaze me how strong they are, my boas have some imense strength behind them, once had one get onto the banister after biting me while taking him back upstairs, in his huff the wood was creaking and close to snapping!! I couldn't forcibly remove him he was so strong, ended up tempting him into some rolled up carpet in the end haha

To you guys who have got cats, are they house cats? We'd like to get cats but the road outside can be so busy at times, those neighbours that have had cats don't have them for long :'( Are house cats practical? Pitfalls, shortcomings or any other info gratefully received.

My 'moogie' is a house cat (for exactly the same reason as you say in your post).

As long as you have your cat from a very early age, then keeping them as house cats is ok but not if they are older and used to roaming about outside (that would be cruel imho).

Just make sure that they have plenty of room to get about and explore, give them toys to keep them from getting bored and high places where they can retreat to to claim their space/territory and they'll be fine.

Looking forward to the photographs...

All the cats we have had have been free to roam, but you can constrain a cat indoors by not allowing them to venture out, though the desire to get out and investigate may get the betternof them, and you. We had one that never wandered beyond the garden, one that loved heading into the local wood.

Pickle has not been let out of the house yet, too young and has yet to be 'done', but will probably be allowed to venture out when she is ready.

A pitfall for cat ownership is allergic reactions to 'clumping' cat litter as the clay in it is horrid stuff... so we stick to wood pellets. Be warned that cat sh*t stinks, which is why most owners are happy to let them roam outdoors. Also kitten temperaments are a good indicator of adult behaviour, but not always. Some cats dont take to using scratching posts, but prefer sofa arms, bed frames or wallpaper in corners of rooms.

However when they come and sit on your knee all can be forgiven... I have loads of pics of Pickle in a whole manner of sleeping positions, as it turns out they can, and will, sleep anywhere.

Our two kittens haven't been outside yet. They emigrated from Italy in November and so far have been very content indoors. They have free reign of the house and like Mr Icey says ours have plenty of toys and some high places to retreat to. They hide on top of the wardrobes when we use the Dyson, bless them. We are not sure if we will let them out as although our close is quite quiet there is a busy ish road at the back of our house.

Window board Ian ffs....the cill is on the outside lol ;) Our two don't go out, I don't even think they want to tbh. If I go out into the garden they will follow, but they wouldn't exit otherwise unless something is left open for an extended period of time. On a usual day they will sleep all night until somebody gets up. Then downstairs for some nosh and straight back upstairs for more zzzzz They'll then wake up when we get home and stay with us until we go to bed. Lazy feckers :D

We have long been thinking of getting some cats and after seeing the pics of your two mousers has renewed the enthusiasm. Holidays were always a problem when we had our last cat, who was an outdoors cat when we got neighbours to look after her but I suppose it's a cattery job for house cats. Rather fancy Bengals, but they'll be a fair wedge but look absolu rtely fantastic.

I wouldn't even consider a cattery for our Bengals.....they'd freak big time If you want to live with Bengals you need to do some considerable reading/research into them and chose the breeder really well. They are lovely adoring cats but expect them to latch onto the female in the house and ignore you and pretty much everybody else ;)

Bengals are beautiful and we couldn't afford a pair so we opted for two wild kittens from the campsite we stay on in Italy. We were supposed to bring them home in September but couldn't get their injections and passports done in time so our friend bought them over in November. They have settled in very well and don't seem to interested in going out, could be the British weather.
