Cheers Ian! Poor Indy has been moved from pillar to post! Glasgow last night, Edinburgh tonight! Edinburgh University to be exact  We were a bit disheartened when the vet confirmed that his stomach had stopped this morning, but a day in their care with the correct drugs and fluids meant that the Vet in Edinburgh could tell us that his gut has started making noises again, this is awesome news! That is a cracking unit with awesome small animal vets, supposedly the best in the country! He is overnighting there where he will continue his treatment as before. He perked up right at the end of his consultation by trying to chase the Vet's pen as she was taking notes, that's more like him  Sorry for the long and disjointed posts, my mind is jumping from one thing to another. They will run more tests and do another xray. Then take it from there if he needs surgery or not. The blockage isn't sharp so hopefully it will move along once his gut gets more active and maybe with a little gentle persuasion from the Vet. Feeling positive, he is in the best place he can be tonight

They phoned me just there...he has passed some poo...a considerable amount!! :D Surgery is now less likely as his gut isn't totally blocked and appears to be working well. More treatment and relaxing today for the wee guy with some more xrays later in the afternoon to see how the blockage is. He may need to stay over one more night just to make sure he is top notch, but the Vet is really happy with him and says he seems much brighter and happier in himself. They are going to be feeding him today so asked if he has a favourite, that would be basil, he loves that stuff, he basically inhales it! Things are looking up!

Indy update : He has come on loads today! He has been eating and pooing! Not eating as much as he should, but of his own accord, so he must be getting his appetite back thumbsup This points to the blockage clearing or not as big an issue as first thought. (Could have been a foreign object or just some dried up poo) They didn't xray him today as he was improving so much that they just left him to himself and continued with getting him relaxed and eating again rather than stress him out. He is in tonight still to continue his treatment and to get him stronger, but if the last few days progress is anything to go by and if the Vet is happy with tomorrow afternoon's xrays...we should have him back home tomorrow evening fingers crossed! It's really odd not having him around, can't wait till he is back :)

Leo ate on Wednesday for the first time in 4-5 weeks. Thought he was going to loose the weight he had put on recently but he's still getting heavier every week. Little worried about the hot weather as the hot end of his tank is 32 and the "cold" end is 29. Nowhere really to cool down. Although hopefully he's drinking plenty.

Can you not wrap some frozen bottles of water up and hide then in the cool side, just to add a little coolness? At those temps it shouldn't cause the cold side to be Baltic, but should bring it down a few degrees for a few hours. The Vet has just phoned, Indy has continued to improve and is still eating etc, but not eating a great amount but she feels that he will eat more in his home environment. They ran the X-rays again this morning and they are clear with no blockage showing at all, so we are going through to pick him up this afternoon! :D He will still need some care to get him back to 100% but he will be home and that's just fantastic!

I nipped away early from work and headed through to pick him up. It's fantastic having him back, he is about 80% himself(compared to about 12%), so all the character is there without the hyperactive bunny nature. He has settled back in no problem and has been eating hay, veg and basil. The house is roasting again and he has some ice in with him and a fan circulating some air past his cage, he seems really content. Tried force feeding with a syringe but he wasn't a fan and soon got the hint and ate more veg  Thanks for the support guys, Indy, Karen and I really appreciate it :grouphug: He has 3 medicines to get 3 times a day, so we'll be the baddys once again by the end of the night, after an hours car journey in his carrier (during which we got stuck in THE heaviest rain storm that freaked him out a wee bit with the noise) or the force feeding scenario :P Things are looking good for Indy rabbit :)
