Last time I went to Llandow it was a day organised by Statstone Lotus - over 60 cars turned up and it didn't seem a problem (they only let a max of 10 on track at any one time anyway) so can't understand why they mentioned a max of 30. I'm sure they'll come round. Forgot to mention too that there is no noise limit at that circuit so even the VSE equipped cars can run!

A summer date would be good too!

 It took me FAR too long to get that

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right I'm waiting on a call back from Llandow, but the woman I spoke to reckons they'll only cater for around 30 cars.... Sure they'll change thier mind, as I reckon they need the dollars.... They had tons of free dates.

If people who are not looking to track are keen, I can check availability, and co-ordinate a Karting grand prix event for the same day. They can take up to 50 drivers too.

If you go to Google Maps and type in this postcode CF71 7PB switch it to satellite mode, and you can see both circuits in the bottom right of the screen. Drag drop zoom away. The Karting track is really good, I've raced there in the past.

Just ideas.....

and if u look carefully u can see the pikey gypsys have moved in lol

Right, spoke to Llandow.

They don't feel comfortable with more than 40 cars looking to track on any one day. They said this, but if we really stuck to our guns, I'm sure they would let us bring more (should we decide to go there). Money talks, but with a max of 10 cars on the track at once it'd be a pain...

They would rotate us in 15min sessions through out the morning, and providing the Marshalls are happy (and we are behaving ourselves) they will be looking to operate an open pit lane for the afternoon.

Noise limit is 105db's, drive by.

They will supply all the Marshalls, Paramedics, etc. I forgot to ask about public liability insurance, but I'm sure that's included.

The price........

£2500

I'm assuming that'll be subject to VAT, in which case it'll work out at around £75 (ish) each.

They have facilities for another 20-30 vehicles to attend who are not looking to track, and there is a spectators area, although by all accounts it's not that big. Not seen it myself though.

There is a cafe there, that sells bacon rolls, all day breakfasts etc. It sure aint the ritz mind. I can tell you that from personal experience, lol.

If non trackers are looking to use the Karting centre next door, I'm sure we can use their car park should we overflow.

Dates.... I mentioned Saturdays in July/August time and they had July 26th, or August 16th & 30th.

The Karting starts at £35 each for the first 1-19 drivers in a GP, £30 20-39 drivers, and £25 each if you get over 40 drivers intetested.

I can cross reference the dates if people are interested.

The Karting is great fun. 1050 metres, and liscenced to hold MSA events

Is anybody interested?

Sounds good to me. Just need to confirm a few bits. 1. Public Liability (do a search for this on the forum and you'll see why I joke about it being very important) 2. Ask them if they can recommend anywhere to stay, and if they can if they have any "special offers" due to the numbers 3. Considering the numbers, if they had any offers with regards to the Karting. 4. Pit Garages - as usually TMS will offer free tech support at Nationals, this is kinda important (if TMS can offer there services this time, not wanting to put words in their mouths!) 5. Instructors - Due to the level of driving at these things, it's always a good idea to have them so the standard improves somewhat! and lastly.... a poll, if everyone is decided that this should be the location for the National (or even just a meet at this price!!) for a suitable date!! Nice work so far JJJ. These things are a PITA to organize and it seems that this one is very civilized so far

1. I'm crap with the search, all I did was find out Slindborg would rather a clean kill, than maim someone, and leave himself liable to litigation, lol.
2. asked if they had any links, or prefferred hotels where we could get some kind of group discount... They did not, but I know a tidy place, that'll be good for the evening too.
3. Don't know that many people will even do the Karting... If they do, they regularly cater for 50 customers in one GP event, so our numbers don't mean much
4. Pit Garages.... I was not aware of this, and I will enquire here-forth
5. Instructors..... I will ask. I will also ask Paul Golding from LoT if he could supply some. Might cost though, not sure!?

lol I'm a heartless fcuk yay :D llandow dosent have any pit garages, not everywhere is half assed luxury like the "commercial" tracks in the UK. There is a B&B locally but got room for about 10 people iirc. There is also a Travel lodge approx 20 mins away in Cardiff.

I still like the sound of it and I bet it would fill up fast, just end up with dissapointed customers tho. Previous ones have been too ambitous and difficult to fill or cover costs. Sumer and camping would be cool!

Lack of Pit Garages not a major issue really, as if TMS did come, I'm sure somebody would be able to provide some sort of shelter for them to work under?? Also, it will be Summer so less likely to rain  Still gets my vote, and again well done so far on organising this JJJ.

Sorry, I should have made it clear that the absence of a pit garage isn't a problem. It would be good to have somewhere dry and secure to leave the contents of the boot though. thumbsup

hmmmm, the Hotel??

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There does seem to be a fair amount of support for Llandow, and it is well cheap!!!! Shall we do some kind of poll at this point...?

From talking to Paul at LoT the shortlist of tracks in the running are

Snetterton (November onwards)
Rockingham (November onwards)
Croft
Llandow
Bruntingthorpe
Anglesey

At a glance, Snet and the rock are too late in the year, Croft is too far North, Bruntingthorpe has a sh*t surface, and Anglesey has a rammed schedule.

If we need a poll fine, but shall I start looking into Hotels in the area??

I think we need another thread now too, as people are not checking this one now. Only seems to be 5 or so of us on here.......

Let me hear what you've got to say people, as I don't want people moaning, lol.

I think it's between llandlow and anglesey. I'd like to add that although croft is a great track, and has resonable facilities, it has only a 98db limit and they are very strict as I found out when I went with bookatrack last year :( I think you should do a poll thumbsup but make sure the people voting know the reasoning behind the choices (time of year, camping, bbq, karting  )

Ok, I've kept out of this as I was awaiting a meeting with Mallory Park which I had yesterday. They are coming up with some dates for us by the end of the week. I'll post some more details as soon as I know but there is a chance of a winter day (that we may need to share) to try it out and (uniquely) the potential of timing to create a competitive element at some point during the day. I dont want to give it all away until I've spoken to a couple of people but we should be able to do it for sub £100 assuming we can similar numbers as before. I'll post up later this week.
