Where have I said that high bhp cars lift clear of rollers? What I said was that the Dyno Dynmaics dyno needs the car to sit on top of the main roller to get an accurate measure and we'd been tying the cars down too tight to allow that.
I can see that this thread has calmed down somewhat (ive been in meetings all day) so i'll keep this brief and as diplomatic as I can. I really shouldn't reply but there were a couple of things I wanted to point out.
JT, my comment was regarding the TMS rolling road day when the only cars not to "do the numbers" were tuned NA's - as I said at the time the analyst in me (and that's what I get paid to do! ) couldn't understand why this was. It just didn't make sense. It's never been resolved properly and it probably never will but to me the only logical conclusion was that the NA tuning didn't produce the BHP claimed. Nothing too wrong with that, I've got a superchip on my car and it didn't produce the 10bhp they claimed. However the establishment concerned did the before and after plots and asked me if I wanted to pay. I looked at the graphs, drove the car and said "yes" and paid up. NA's are always going to be difficult to tune, and chasing BHP will always be expensive. Anyway if anyone wants to look up the old thread they can but I'm not going to post a link to it so that hopefully we can put this thread to rest.
Mr Aachen - I see that you've also resorted to posting offensive comments about me on t'other place too - but again I'll keep it brief as there is no point in dragging it out.
The place we call "Scotland" isn't exactly wall-to-wall with plastic sportscar tuners. According to the AA, courtenays is 8 hours away from my flat. TMS is approx 6 hours away. I'm not sure how much you travel but I'm quite used to having to travel to get descent flights, travelling down south for work, travelling to get to ferries, hell even sometimes travelling to go to other countries in our "cars". As such the fact I live in Scotland isn't actually a deterrent to getting my car modified.
As such I've tried to go to TMS. Following a post about superchips, JT suggested I try a TMS chip, I checked the route finder, sucked through my teeth and said "ok" and the booking was made. I then emailed the day before to confirm (arrangements were at this point made with work and I'd booked accommodation) and I got a reply that said "what were you coming doing for again?" followed by a "don't think we can fit you in". I then spent the next week calling and emailing to try and reappoint. No-one called me back so I went to my local superchip dealer instead. So I'm afraid I can't say I've experienced the TMS service, but it's nothing to do with my location. This incident was annoying but it's hardly the basis for a hate campaign. If you read my posts you'll see that most (if not all) actually have a point and don't just contain insults at people I've never met.
I'm not and never have been a "thorney basher" and indeed I even share the same surname as the man. If things are said that I think are bollocks then I'm afraid I'll say so. The whole point of the internet is that very concept. Lose that (as we are doing on here) and we defeat the point.
As such I do think this site would benefit from being independent and I for one would happily pay.
JA if you want to discuss this further feel free to PM me and we can go back and forth without boring the rest of the site.
p.s Partridge, great post. As someone paying eye widening sums to a lawyer to help sort a very messy personal situation, I've been on the receiving end of advice and "facts" from countless armchair lawyers. As I've found out most of the "advice" is flawed at best.
EDIT : My spooling iz getting worsse
