What an embarrassing read.

Totally agreed, there will only be one loser, he may win the day (or not), but the damage to his business will be more whichever way

For the good of the forum, you guys should be talking to each other or leaving this to your solicitors, not having a internet chat war.

Again agreed

For the love of god, lock the bloody thread!

Nar, we need to know what people think, its just a shame a few will resort to slagging people off they don't know..........

ENOUGH.

There have been so many posts recently about how this is the friendliest and most helpful forum people have been on. I can't bear to see this place ripped apart by these pointless, viscious personal attacks which have nothing to do with the topic. Just read back, and see what an embarrassing, painful, uncomfortable and frankly really quite sad (and I mean boo hoo sad) read this is.

Please stop it. Take a step back - there's just no need to be this mean to people who probably have no real place in/impact on your 'real' life, and haven't done you any material harm. Words on a screen, in a forum you have chosen to join, for a little plastic car, full of people most of whom you have never met. That's all this is.

Take a look out of the window at your beautiful car, and put a smile back on your face and a good vibe back in this place :)

:grouphug:

And before I get it - yes I'm a relative newbie who knows nothing  , and yes there's a small cross in the upper right of my screen yada yada, neither of which are the point...

And finally - I too would much prefer to pay a small fee for the forum to be independent, and be free to say what the hell I want without getting bashed for not even having been critical

Edit: Took me so long to type, a couple of posts got in first. The above wasn't aimed at you Rob/Tresco :)

It's about time that this site went independent.

A small fee to join and run it

:grouphug:

I would be in for that.

This site has saved me so much money in diagnosis and problem-solving that I would be more than willing to give back.

Ditto

This idea has come up more times than thorney bashing threads!

wont go anywhere though because as Thorney has stated he has flooded alot of money into the site and owns it, the only way the above will happen is through a site like 116, but as has already been pointed out thats only housing a particular kind of person....

I am a member of 116 and here and I act exactly the same on both, exactly the same as I act in real life. We do need to stop the them and us between the sites.

For gods sake guys, if you have nothing constructive to add... don't bother posting! Comments like "Boring" are worthless, have no constructive input and have no context in which they are used.

Where have I said that high bhp cars lift clear of rollers? What I said was that the Dyno Dynmaics dyno needs the car to sit on top of the main roller to get an accurate measure and we'd been tying the cars down too tight to allow that.

I can see that this thread has calmed down somewhat (ive been in meetings all day) so i'll keep this brief and as diplomatic as I can. I really shouldn't reply but there were a couple of things I wanted to point out.

JT, my comment was regarding the TMS rolling road day when the only cars not to "do the numbers" were tuned NA's - as I said at the time the analyst in me (and that's what I get paid to do! ) couldn't understand why this was. It just didn't make sense. It's never been resolved properly and it probably never will but to me the only logical conclusion was that the NA tuning didn't produce the BHP claimed. Nothing too wrong with that, I've got a superchip on my car and it didn't produce the 10bhp they claimed. However the establishment concerned did the before and after plots and asked me if I wanted to pay. I looked at the graphs, drove the car and said "yes" and paid up. NA's are always going to be difficult to tune, and chasing BHP will always be expensive. Anyway if anyone wants to look up the old thread they can but I'm not going to post a link to it so that hopefully we can put this thread to rest.

Mr Aachen - I see that you've also resorted to posting offensive comments about me on t'other place too - but again I'll keep it brief as there is no point in dragging it out.

The place we call "Scotland" isn't exactly wall-to-wall with plastic sportscar tuners. According to the AA, courtenays is 8 hours away from my flat. TMS is approx 6 hours away. I'm not sure how much you travel but I'm quite used to having to travel to get descent flights, travelling down south for work, travelling to get to ferries, hell even sometimes travelling to go to other countries in our "cars". As such the fact I live in Scotland isn't actually a deterrent to getting my car modified.

As such I've tried to go to TMS. Following a post about superchips, JT suggested I try a TMS chip, I checked the route finder, sucked through my teeth and said "ok" and the booking was made. I then emailed the day before to confirm (arrangements were at this point made with work and I'd booked accommodation) and I got a reply that said "what were you coming doing for again?" followed by a "don't think we can fit you in". I then spent the next week calling and emailing to try and reappoint. No-one called me back so I went to my local superchip dealer instead. So I'm afraid I can't say I've experienced the TMS service, but it's nothing to do with my location. This incident was annoying but it's hardly the basis for a hate campaign. If you read my posts you'll see that most (if not all) actually have a point and don't just contain insults at people I've never met.

I'm not and never have been a "thorney basher" and indeed I even share the same surname as the man. If things are said that I think are bollocks then I'm afraid I'll say so. The whole point of the internet is that very concept. Lose that (as we are doing on here) and we defeat the point.

As such I do think this site would benefit from being independent and I for one would happily pay.

JA if you want to discuss this further feel free to PM me and we can go back and forth without boring the rest of the site. chinky chinky

p.s Partridge, great post. As someone paying eye widening sums to a lawyer to help sort a very messy personal situation, I've been on the receiving end of advice and "facts" from countless armchair lawyers. As I've found out most of the "advice" is flawed at best.

EDIT : My spooling iz getting worsse

Sorry about that, I can only assume it occured when I hadn't really got the staff to run the place in a very organised manner, something which has improved immeasurably I'm happy to say.

It is such a shame that TMS has not produced the goods to VXR36 expectations and that the whole business has become chip wrapping on these forums. There is nothing that anyone can say or do, that will mend the bridges that have basically nuked along the way of the VX220 community over the years. I think the last happy time that everyone came together was probably brunters a few years ago. A lot of thanks to Rubber & Leah for that! Rockingham was a good track day this year, but I think the whole experience was due to a different mentality. The whole boy racer element appeared to have leaked in, and a pissing competition started. I know some people have moved on from VX's, some still have them, but there is a general bad vibe coming from both sides. I post .org and type116, not as much as I used to as the feeling of anger on both sites is wearing. It is such a shame that people seems to forget what this car is about. It is all in the handling and having a huge power output is not worth the money you spend on it. ShinyAndy and Bengie gave me that lesson whilst overtaking me in north Wales a few years ago. Would be good to see if someone could organise a great event which could get everyone in one place and you could all fcuking shoot each other, and let the rest of us get on with life.
