BBC weather is sunny and 13 C

as I am on slicks  wondering about coming as I am and bringing the two replacements tyres with me?

Sorry, mouse clicky error....

Nick,

I'm bringing my Spare wet set of wheels & tyres, but between the two of us we should have enough tyres for you to borrow if required. Also, I too have bought two new a048's for my rears and like you hoped for a sunny day to get the most out of my slick pair first.

Cheers I will do a search and see if there are any tyre fitters nearby, so I can change them after the event. I have put both 888 in the front seat ok just have to be careful when driving.

Couldn't be bothered driving on them as it may rain, so changed them already

Nick, about 2.45-3.00 mins. It's probably still best to come down the M1,M25,M3 as you should miss all the traffic.

From memory there's a Shell or BP just off the M3 motorway going towards CC & one within 3 miles of the circuit too, though I'm not sure if they sell Decent fuel.

Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow, looks like I am going to be severly underpowered compared to some of the competition! Hope the Ohlins and sticky rubber will help..... VIX, sorry I haven't been in touch recently, been major hectic at this end. Looking forward to seeing your new power horse! I have a good friend coming along, so was just wondering if any of you would mind taking her out on some of the later sessions? She will probably get board of the non force induction N/A :P

So did you get wet after I'd left? I decided to go for a spin before heading home, so made my way over to Swindon, then Cirencester (wet roads  ),through Cheltenham & the heavens opened just as I got past the racecourse, so the last two miles were a bit yuk, still love riding a bike though :D

It was a great Track day at Castle Coombe today. Good to see more faces from the forum, with all the VX's putting on a damn good showing in the LOT session. As usual it was a well run LOT event and my first sessioned track day! (Although I still prefer open pit personally!) No incidents and with only a sprinkling of rain for a few short laps. Great Stuff! Max

Nope didn't rain at all after those few drops. I must be getting old as I am tried, it was a hard day first non open pit lane for me. First time I tried the gaz shock and messed it up can't believe it as when I went back to road settings instead of a few clicks from the max setting all around, on the pax side I had somehow set it up a few clicks from soft :beat: :beat: wondered why my pax said I was all over the shop ans very unsettled. Made for some fun though. All in all great day really enjoyed the track, first time there, even went for a quick spin on the back straight

I almost didn't make it on the track at CC yesterday, as I was static tested first time at 103.7db.....Bugger me!!! Then, after I was allowed out on track (after much pleading) & was static tested on return to the pits, but this time at 98db. Late in the morning they called me over again on returning after a session (as my car sounded rather loud on track, apparently!) & I was static tested, this time at 99.7db. All I can say is that cutting out bloody great holes in your car, removing the boot bulkhead, wheel arch liners & sound insulation, definitely sorts out any heat issues but leads to greatly increased induction sound, supercharger whine, general clatter, rattles & big headaches when trying to meet sound checks at track days! Not good news when your car is only a track day car. I may have to re-think my situation and return my car to a more standard looking VX, as I have a spare rear clam anyway...Shame though! Alternatively, I may try and either incorporate a removable sound insulated boot bulkhead panel or vent the bulkhead with ducting through the boot area & to smaller, less prominent vents in the rear of the clam? Or, I may line the complete rear clam & engine bonnet with heat & sound proof matting. ...Thanks to Nick777 & VIX for a rapid wheel change on my car just before the start of our session, the Ferrari F1 team would have been impressed (not). Also for Sizetenboots for doing some data logging on the day. Max

Great to meet everyone, really was a great day. Only made better by the lucky break with the weather! Really enjoyed the track, was getting a nice flow up by the end. Definately be doing Combe again if LOT do any further days there :) VX's definately put up a good show on the day thumbsup

Another great day at Castle Combe. Great to see so many VXs and thanks to those who came along to support. thumbsup We were lucky with the weather which helped keep most of us on the straight and narrow - I did manage to miss the second chicane on one lap but fortunately the grass is quite smooth there. Thanks to Max for bringing fuel for me. Hope you get the noise sorted out. And thanks to Nick for the company on the way home. Thought we made good time considering the traffic. Hope you wanted to go via the A421 ... ? :P chinky chinky
