find out yo'll be a rich man lol ;)

This year i think i will buy one and have a play with a local engine builder to see what can be done

you can build all you want but unless you can find someone to remap it or a standalone that does FBW then it'll be useless.

But its possible to run a cable so i would junk the FBW to be honest

How about just spending a few K's on the 2.2. Where would that get you?

It's got me to the mid 180's and a couple of others to 190'ish.

Given the ability to start again from scratch, I'd have just gone for the SC conversion. It seems to be the most cost effective big number increase. Will be really interesting to see how Muncher's work with Courtenays on a self-fit SC kit pans out. No idea what that will do to the cost of the conversion if/when it's finalised but will surely bring it down to under £4k.

Well if that is really going to be under 4 then i think i will wait

Thats more of a personal question as to what you want the outcome of the car to be? its all down to how long your going to keep it

the engine is good for 200k IMO and think you wont get the return on the S/C anyway so i would imagine people who S/C their cars wouldnt really be looking to sell them on after

the 2.2 is easily tuned, it just depends what you want from the engine  it's not worth fitting a turbo as it's easier to buy a vxT thumbsup if you can live with the whine of a supercharger then it's a good upgrade, don't bother with a stage 1 just go straight for the Courtenay stage 2, the parts are mostly GM too. Expect between 200 and 260 BHP, depending on which stage you choose. if you prefer the sound of throttle bodies then the TMS supplied Webcon Alpha throttle bodies perform as good as they sound. To get the best from them requires a freeflow exhaust system including manifold, ported head, cams + double valve springs. Expect between 170 and 250 BHP depending on how extreme you go. for a budget build then buy a 2.4 inlet manifold, piper cams and a Dbilas exhaust manifold. Expect between 160 and 175 BHP depending on how your car responds to the mods.

Thanks for all the replies, I'm in the middle off having a garage built at the moment so will put off the decision till that is finished. I think my 2 choices are strip and build the vx back up then have stage 2 or sell and buy the Lancia Stratos kit. Decisions decisions

It really depends on what you do with your VX and style of driving.

If you drive mainly on the road and are a SLJ then sell the NA and buy a tuned turbo.

If you spend time on track and/or want somthing with a linear power delivery then either highly a tuned TB engine or SC is the way to go.

It's horses for courses.

:yeahthat: And WRT to the loss of 'investment' comment then i think the above is right, you'll never get back what you put in to a supercharger financially. Having said that, there has never been one for sale (execept MAX's car which wasn't road legal and Sam's which i believe he still has)
