Phew! Close call there. Thank God you did turn it over by hand and are sensitive enough to have felt the contact. I'm pretty sure I'd have just happily fired it up.

Great news that it's up and running. When are you back to Northampton to get the map sorted?

I was just checking the compression with the plugs in, so glad I did

It never occurred to me that the plugs would be different

need to run it in before it gets mapped, so 500 miles to go, might be a while

I'm considering a remote oil filter set-up for my build

very nice, that would fit quite easily in the vx thumbsup

So, I shouldn't book a day off next week to come and watch then. Are they taking bookings for 2010 yet? :D

I can have her run in for you in 5 days WORST case, and 2 days best :D
infact if you were a real petrol head that would be run in within 100 miles and jobs a carrot... you only need to bed the rings in, which is done in the first 30-100miles anyway.

Where is it being mapped?

I have had the valve seats enlarged for the +1mm wasted stem valves and also the head skimmed thumbsup

Vocky where did you get the machining done, and how much was it? I'm currently wondering whether to go for the larger valves or just the standard wasted stems from Allecotec

I used Terry Hird Engines

they are a swine to enlarge, but can be done if the engineering company are skilled enough.

He knows his stuff and I'm very pleased with the work and especially the prices thumbsup

enlarge valve seats and skim head for £90 + vat

edit: not sure if it's worth the hassle of bigger valves, but hey 'every little helps'
