I think i may have found someone to make some custom seats for our motors, based on a design they already have for kit cars, and will make use of the existing seat runners. They will be made from high tensile roving fibre glass, appearance is a smoked black gel coat look with a carbon top! (photo's hopefully soon). Weight will be around 4kg each, you can have 4 or 5 point holes for harnesses, and colour coded padding is available at extra cost.. Max price will be around the £200ish mark for A PAIR, not each. What i would help speed things up: Someone who already has a technical diagram of the seat runner dimensions and/or cabin measurements (i can do it myself but as mine's a daily drive so it will take a while). What would also be handy is if anyone has a spare seat runner (even if its a crappy wobbly one) looking casual, that they wouldn't mind lending to me for the guy to build to, so its fit is right first time. There is some potential for a group buy once they are made, but haven't looked into it yet as i thought the price was quite nice already. Any opinions/thoughts if this was to come off? constructive ones please :)

Could possibly be interested in at least one, as long as they're not impossible to use on a day to day basis like the Mog's etc and I can be convinced they're constructed in a safe way in the event of a crash. :o Can't help with either of your requests as I haven't got my car back from ProAlloy yet. But keep us posted!

Will be best to give him a car to work on really. Got any pics of the seats used in the kit cars?

Just working on pics at the moment, a mate has them in his kit car and they look very nice. The plan was, as he's the other side of the country to get him to make one up and send it out to me on SOR, i'll try the fit and get him to change the design/mounting's if needed. At that point i'll prob get some local vx owners to come and have a look (or at a meet) and i'll take pics and put them up for your approval. I think he was trying to get into the lotus elise/exige market but needed to find someone with one, i came along at the right time!! The only thing the he has said is that this type of seat will feel more reclined that the std ones.

What's "the other side of the country"? Maybe another member is reasonably close and can swing by for him to measure up all of the dimensions he needs to know. Only a ten minute job to whip out a seat (drivers seat, at least) for him to look at and measure the runners.

:yeahthat: Good thinking

Or, I know Slindborg has a pair of seats already out of the car that he could easily measure. Although he is pretty busy as of today so he might take longer than usual to get back to you. Worth an ask though :)

I'm definately interested in a pair, as I was about to blow more than that on a basic trim / harness holes May have to watch leg length if the seat is more reclined and a harness bar is fitted

I would be interested in a pair, with padding to fit my skinny arse. However, much depends on the build quality, and tortional rigidity, comfort (subjective), and supportiveness, and whether the tops of the seat would fit within the standard restraints on the roll bar. I guess that they are only single skin? If they comply with the above, seems an increadible price for a pair.

Well I ring the guy again tomorrow, and get a bit more info. I have done a few measurements, need to pull the seat out at the weekend if i've got time to do a few more. Anyone got a spare seat runner????

I might be interested in these also, assuming quality is ok and they are safe. I'm in London if they need a car/seat to measure up.

They look like the seats from JK composite. Great seats, I have them in the Westfield. Very comfortable and I'm sure they can alter the design if needed. Steve

The look great but my only concern is how strong is that headrest section? There can't be that much GRP holding that on...
