any news?

prices were posted on the nitron website , suffice to say they did not meet the budget criteria. Shame as the other aftermarket options just do not provide the quality or attention to detail that would not require silly extra amounts to remedy.

meantime , plain cast iron disks and some Carbon Lorraine 5 are the really good setup and are an unbeatable combo imo

Sorry to bring this post back, but I'm trying to find out more about the bells? In this post Elise parts, Plans and AP bells were mentioend by different people. If AP bells exist Ideally I'd like to find out the part number for them for the discs mentioned in this thread so there is a choice in discs. If they don't exist which are best Plans or Elise Parts?

this is a picture of the elise parts AP disk and their bell, this would have the 177.8 pcd standard bell to rotor mounting and has the 12 bolt fixings.

I can't see the writing to tell what model rotor it is from AP, but you should also be able to fit the ALCON DV295/25 same. For costs, weight, the 295 is preferred over the 304

Cheers Guys :) I just had a reply from Elise Parts, all the bells they supply are made for them and are not AP. So looks like AP don't make bells for the VX, that'd explain why AP themselves couldn't tell me what bell I needed.

From my limited experiance of making custom disc / rotor setup. I was lucky to work with AP in developing a kit for my R5 VAG conversion and got to go on their brake dyno (very scary lol) but AP use a company called BG Developments a lot of the time (sure they use others?) and they made the bells and bracket using AP disc / caliper. Really good company also to work with Sure the brackets were £60 and the bells £120 - could be wrong and was a while ago. Tbh other than the weight saving std discs r grooved and a decent pad are a very good setup on the vx and when you look at how quick the diecs dissapear the AP disc can get quite expensive. Complete overkill for the road DG

For future reference, the part numbers I have for the rotors are CP5000-510CG8 VD-295x295R128x177.8D44TT - Offside rotor CP5000-511CG8 VD-295x295L128x177.8D44TT - Nearside rotor CP3845-100K12 - 12 bolt fixing kit (one required for each bell/rotor)

I would say over 2Kg weight saving each, very worthwhile for the road, particular the steered wheels.

I just emailled Demon Thieves for a price on front Alcon 295.25 rotors , expecting around £210 each. Would prefer a package from Eliseparts but supplied Alcon not AP 5000

Steve don't get me wrong if it's 2kg saving per corner that is going to make a nice difference but at the cost you do have to look at other options. Will bite the bullet and get it done one day :D DG

I paid £143 per rotor from Plans a couple of weeks back. Less painful than I was expecting.

Looking at the key for the AP discs the 295 size is listed only as plain discs, no groves or drilling so they should last just as long as normal discs?

No, I just rang Plans Motorsport up and they sent them out to me (direct from AP as it turned out) because at the time I wasn't sure whether there was anything custom about the fit of their "conversion". They were £143 each + VAT. Plus whatever the bolt kit cost but make sure they send you enough, they sent me two packs of 6 bolts instead of two packs of 12 bolts. thumbsup

Thanks for that. They are the same discs as I am running but mine will need replacing soon.

Elise parts won't sell the bells seperately. I just asked if plans* would. *I see the AP 4 pot conversion is over £1800 from Plans :o That makes the £1300 appear a bargin...

For info Plans will sell bells seperately they are £90+vat each so £211 a pair. Can someone tell me if any of the good aftermarket pads are any bigger than OEM? I'm quite tempted to get rear 290's but I already on stock discs have a 1mm lip on the current disc and don't really want a bigger rim of unswept area. I know on my MX5 the stock rear pads are small and all the aftermarket ones sweep a good 5mm extra on the inside of the disc. I wondered if any of the VX/Elise aftermarkets are similar?
