If you're intent on doing it, wouldn't it be more sensible to sell the VXR whilst it's still got some value and buy the cheapest NA you can find for the conversion (wouldn't matter if the whole rear end of the car was trashed)? Can't see the finished car being worth anything like the cost of the conversion and presumably will have a very limited appeal, so sell the VXR for whatever it will sell for, say £15k and buy a £5k dead NA - that way, you're already £10k closer to the total cost. Edit: too fecking slow. :(

Hi YorB,

If you try hard enough you can always find a way of using all of it.

A

chinky chinky I'm booking my pax ride now Andrew :D

ETA: good call on the interior!

And: I really do admire your chutzpah, going down the road of fiddling again, given it hasn't always been smooth. Best of luck thumbsup

Could easily get 2nd hand wheels and tyres for £500 not £2k!

Yeah but not necessarily ones that would like nice on this car... I'd want to choose the design of wheel and wouldn't want to have 400+bhp on 'used' tintop tyres that you don't know the history of, just my opinion obviously

This suggestion makes some sense financially. However, I know my car and I want to retain the VXR interior. I reckon that Fab (potential Mr 10%) could fence my car parts for a fair amount. In fact I am banking on being able to realise some cash from selling my previous mods, clams and wheels to offset some of the high conversion costs.

There aren't many VXR's to start with, it's sacrilege to essentially turn it into a different car. Buy a damaged tubby and use that instead!

That price excludes engine and gearbox, painting and labour. I have no idea of final price but I reckon I could get 6k for all the parts on my car that I would no longer require.

What I do know is that the Jag engine is a fraction of the H1. The turn key H1 engine is £20k alone.

In answer to Steve: I would say 450BHP with 550NM would be more than enough for our cars. I think anythink more would be difficult to use and bloody scary.

Mclaren f1 had 627bhp 6.1-litre V12 engine , so if a project is worth doing , thats the what I would want to measure against

scratch the above, you want the LSX block 4.125 bore , stock LS7 4.00" stroke forged-steel crankshaft , stock LS7 cams , LS7 90mm throttle body and Harrop HTV2300 , with rods , pistons for 9:1 = 850hp , 840 lb-ft

Don't wish to come across big-headed but to me that would be downgrading.

RS Performance do a supercharged 2.3 v8 unit (nice and light weight) kicking out over 600 BHP. That would surely give a better BHP/kg ratio!? (And would fit in a standard bodied VXT non?)

I agree with others that it would be sacrelige to turn a VXR220 in to another car, regardless of how well you know the car. It will be all new anyway (virtually). IMHO

Drop them a line, they will email you the complete catalogue! ;)

I would be wanting the H1 V8 from Hartley, it "only" has 400hp developed at 10,000rpm (can have more I think) but it comes in at just under 100kg, surely that would be even better for BHP/kg and fitting it in. Have to agree with the masses on doing such drastic things to a VXR is a bit wrong, and even financially starting with a CAT D would be a lot more sensible. Wish you every luck, hope you do create something crazy and wonderful in equal proportions chinky chinky

As almost everything will need upgrading for the Caral conversion, you can just start your build with this in the garage:

Not sure VXR36's wallet would allow him to buy that from TMS, given their history.
