I've always loved the idea of Roller Barrel ITBs. Did you look into ones that would potentially fit, and prices for them?

Imnotworthy wow, can't wait to see if you do that - the current bits you've done look gorgeous. I'd be worried about getting decent air seals on stuff like roller barrels, but I guess that CNC machine is pretty accurate. Machining direct-to-head ITBs would be amazing.

For the variable length induction, I'm sure you could knock up some telescopic trumpets and use the stored vacuum from the inlet manifold to move a piston. It would only be an on/off type thing, but that would be so much easier to manage/tune (you'd only need a single output from the ECU that turned on at a certain RPM).

edit: Actually forget that - IMO to get anything sensible the intake tract would have to be far too long at non-F1 engine revs (30 inch at 3000rpm -> 12 inch at 7000rpm).

easiest way will be a gated intake manifold, similar to vanos

Duratecs have simlar port sizing and spacing to the Z22 heads ;) I nearly succomed to some WRC Focus roller barrels a while back.

Well, if you've got a spare, I'll take it off your hands. thumbsup

It'll be another nice piece of circular machined alloy to have in the boot of the car, to go with the smaller SC pulley. On the off chance I ever get to use either of them properly.

similar port shape, but bore centers are a bit less than 2mm less on the Duratec
