For those of you considering a Stage 2 at the moment, I have acquired a copy of a dyno of an MMG stage 2 :

This is not to say that everybody will get the same results, but it is quite impressive.

That's weird, I was literally 10 minutes ago thinking I would like to get mine dyno'd again on 98 RON since the last one I did was on 95 and produced a slightly strange curve.

Would be interesting to see how the torque holds out at higher revs, your graph there ends at 5800rpm but if the torque didn't drop too much after that then the power might have held out right to the redline.

Beware punters, those graphs are artifically 'smoothed'. All dynos can do this (using a user input coefficient that the operator enters) which can smooth the graph line dramatically.

I don't think there was any fettling or fudging. I gather it was an average across three runs.

Just got off the phone with Liam actually, and he's getting some excellent results at the mo. His stage 4 and 5 are all on uprated intercoolers which is impressive!!! All track tested too thumbsup

Is he getting the same sort of gains with the intercooler as courtenay do with the chargecooler? Haven't spoken to him for a while. I take it if it's track tested there's no sign of heat soak?

@redvts I believe it's a standard tubby with Tullet 3" exhaust right Bob? Other than that standard (engine wise)?

You going to get it done on a proper rolling road? Would like to see if the results are similar to your original dyno... I'm still trying to siphon off the funds to get the stage 1.5 done...

I believe normally MMG stage 2 is with a Tullet. Pretty sure MMG stage 3, 4 and 5 are with an intercooler. And If I'm not mistaken (and I stand to be corrected here) but stage 5 was tested at Le Mans.

So when are MMG going to retail this intercooler for us to buy and is it feasible for road use at such a high stage of tune as surely heat when idling i.e. in traffic, will be an issue?! I've emailed MMG so waiting for a response soon but I'm hoping one of you knowledgeable chaps know the score!

"HI CHRIS THAT'S CORRECT. WE HAVE BEEN TESTING IT FOR AWHILE NOW ON A VXR RUNNING OUR OWN STAGE 4 AND ALSO ON OUR OWN VXR RUNNING OUR OWN STAGE 5 330-350 BHP WITH VERY GOOD RESULTS. THE STAGE 5 WAS OVER AT LE MANS LAST WEEKEND AND WE NEVER SAW TEMPS EXCEEDING 40 DEGREES. THE INTERCOOLER IS READY TO GO WE JUST NEED TO PUT IT ON OUR WEBSITE NOW. MANY THANKS LIAM MMG PERFORMANCE" :D

"THE UNIT WILL RETAIL BETWEEN £1000-£1300. THIS WILL INCLUDE PIPE WORK AND CLAMPS. THE INTERCOOLER WILL OBVIOUSLY BE BETTER IN TRAFFIC THAN THE STD UNIT AS IT IS FAR MORE EFFICIENT, HOWEVER THE REAL BENEFIT OF A DECENT INTERCOOLER CORE IS THE RATE IT COOLS DOWN AFTER YOU COME OFF THE ACCELERATOR. THE POWER DELIVERY IS ALSO FAR BETTER THAN A CHARGECOOLER AND MORE RESPONSIVE." Didn't think it would be that expensive but if it proves to be better, in terms of value and performance, than the chargecooler then it's money well spent I guess

Is it just a bigger version of the normal intercooler then? or a completely redesigned one. Take it its still just air-air cooling

http://i67.photobuck...pg?t=1276900562 This is my skyline.. With slight smoothing. This is reputedly one of the smoothest he had ever seen. The graph in opening post is super mega smoothed!!!
