Sure fluid change could be completed but if your going to bleed the clutch fluid you might as well do the brakes also and not everyone would want or need this and of course is going to be an extra cost

Agree that stg 2 if there is a lot of torque it is a matter of time :o

DG

Not sure it was obvious , but I was talking about protecting the gearbox from all that torque by giving it fresh fluid, not the clutch hydraulics. But since you mention it, bleeding the clutch line is a < 5 minute job and would remove a minimal amount from the reservoir, I would check the level and offer a topup. But the bigger picture I am trying to explain about the true costs of these upgrades is rarely mentioned, if I was uprating the power on a customers car then I would insist the condition of brake system was up to the job. :)

Maybe tuners don't like to get their hands dirty and just like to play around on laptops?

Steve we like to take stuff to the next level - that's our problem :P and fully agree with you that there are some extra jobs you can do to help the overal life of the car - be that more regular fluid changes, better components etc. I think with tuners there is a balance to get correct - if you said to someone give me £10k and your car will be bullet proof and monster power most would not get to many people who could warrent that spend Hence the reason for stages which to you, I and others does not really mean much but helps people with less knowledge of cars to get an idea of what is needed for a certain level of tune. I think if you spoke to any of the tuners you would get advice ref things like clutch etc to state of tune especially when getting closer to its limit Most people go to stg 1 or 2 for a while until they can save the extra to go all stg4 which as we know adds some big bills over the lower stages of tune I cant comment on other tuners for the vx but certainly CS & MMG are always very honest and open in what they are going to do and what it will give you and Liam def gets his hands dirty :D ;) But a fair point Steve that some upgrades to power really are pushing on some of the other oe parts of the car Now need to go buy a new tool after Noplex car broke it last night :D - I hate getting my hands dirty ;) DG

So looking at the raw figures you guys are quoting:

mmg stage 1 gives 243bhp & 224lb/ft
mmg stage 2 gives 258bhp & 291lb/ft

all of these could vary a little between vxt's though

Which (cogs whiring) makes a difference of 15bhp & 67lb/ft from stage 1 to stage 2.

The costs on mmg's site are stage 1 £475 & stage 2 £1775 which is £1300 difference.

Big torque improvement from stage 2 but big £'s diff so a tricky one.

Any ideas welcome then I'll speak to Liam in the near future?

chinky chinky

So what did you end up going for in the end ?
