Is this key transponder the same for tubbys with central locking? The reason I ask is that inside the key is empty, is the alarm and immobiliser operated from the triangular (META supplied OEM) keyfob?

The immobiliser chip is in the key, and looks neigh on invisible, more like a peice of pencil lead tucked in one of the corners. Believe Tubby and NA use the same immobiliser system

Ah right, I see it, I was busy looking for a PCB similar to whats inside the keyfob, cheers for that thumbsup Wonder if you can reprogram keyfobs using the 'ANTI-THEFT' section in OP-COM, would really like to try it, but would prefer to try on someone else's car first, any volunteers...? On second thoughts, I might try it in the dealer car park just in case it all goes pete tong!!

Hi guys When I bought my VX it came with two keys (which work the immobiliser - I think) - and two alarm 'plippers' Attached File  DSCN0365a.jpg   29.78KB   7 downloads (shield shaped - with button centre) attachments, but one of the alarm casings is empty - i.e. no PCB inside - just fresh air. So off I went to my Vauxhall dealer (well you have to ask don't you) and they quoted £100 for the 'plipper' and £50 to code it. I see that your thread deals with the immobiliser in the key itself, but do you have advice for me about how to fix my 'plipper' problem? e.g. where to buy a new PCB and get it programmed?

Abacus Alarms: a new alarm unit, plus two fobs should be cheaper than Vauxhall have quoted for the PCB and coding. Just a matter of removing the dash top, unplug old alarm unit, plug nee alarm unit it and refit dash top.

Then you could post me the dud alarm case to replace my heavily worn one. ;)

Had the same problem with mine and I suspect it had a new imobilizer or ecu at sometime or the key code card is of usual vauxhall quality and wrong (and i paid for a new obe ad well as my car didnt come with one ) managed to get it read by a company in leicester who removed the chip read it and programmed the key

So I could use these guys instead of going to Vauxhall and ordering a key card ?

Might be easier/quicker to do that. Who did you use ?

Hi zube Place is on Belgrave rd sort of opposite the old church at the bottom of the flyover town side just before the roundabout Not cheap as they have to take the Immobiliser out But I wasted time and cash getting a code card and still had to get it done this way sadly it is not possible to clone the keys the cheap way You do need v5 proper Id and another profe of address before they will do anything

hope vauxhall database is correct for your car then otherwise the card is useless
You can get a key cut to open the doors but won't start it depends how worried you are about losing your keys

If I'm reading it right, the picture of the security card on the first page of this thread seems to show that the code is more than 4 digits long. I'm assuming it's the one with the red box around it...
I hope these keys do work as I have a couple on order!

Don't really need 2 keys, but I remember being told it can cost over £500 if not more to sort it out if you loose all the keys. That was a few years back, and not specific to the VX. Anyone got any idea what it would cost to sort out if you were left keyless (dealer/non dealer) ?

Sorry Nick. My bad!
You're right, it does seem to be a 4 digit code.
A few people seem to have said that their ebay keys don't work though...which is a bit of a worry. I guess I'll find out for myself in a few days...
Hopefully someone else will come along and be of more use than me and you'll get it sorted.

that probably includes new locks if you have a non coded key having a key to fit the locks is sorted just need to get o coded one cut the same
