yeah it's an Evo IX, totally standard though.

thumbsup

I still have a strange hankering for an Evo X even though I wasn't massively impressed with the test drive I had last year.

I'm quite happy with it at the moment, can drive it round like a normal roomy 5 door saloon car but then get to the twisties and nail it. Impressive on damp roads too! But i daren't go anywhere near its limit.

any chance of a passenger ride in the vx? :D

Planning for next week and thinking about stopping over on Tuesday night before hand or do the 2 plus hours drive up on Wednesday morning. Anyone done this trip before from Northants/Bedford and know what the traffic/road is like in the morning? Or should I just book into one of the recommended B&B's local to the track?

I've done the trip 3 times in the last year and it's usually a fraction over 2 hours from my place in Bedford. Took a bit longer the last time I went in November as there was torrential rain for the last 30 miles that had me crawling along at 10mph trying to see anything in the dark on worn R888's. For some reason, it's seems quicker coming back. It's a fair old schlep though and does mean a pre-6am start to make it at a sensible time. I think Max, VIX and Tony are staying over up there...

What route will you guys be taking? M1 - A46 or A1 - A16 or A1 Grantham and across. Just trying to see the best point to possibly meet up on route.

This is the route I tend to take. All pretty decent roads, especially in the direction we need to go in the morning. There was a temporary 10 mile diversion between Sleaford and Horncastle last time I went but that didn't really slow anything down.

I really must get these bloody R1R's put on one of these sets of wheels, so that I've at least got the option to make the wrong choice. :beat:

Not fussed. The drive is fine, or it is as long as it's not hammering down, for me. At least it's not mid-winter and going to be pitch black all the way there. It's right at the limit of where the do I stay or don't I stay question comes into play. Same as Oulton really.
