Might also be worth looking under the front bonnet to see whether there's an obvious switch installed to disable the ABS that a previous owner has fitted.

I checked this and could not see one. Even if it were a switch, that sensor doesn't cause problems with the speedo anyway.

How is it going have you checked the speed sensor? If you are uncertain, just unplug it and see how the car behaves. It really sounds as if this could be part of the problem. Have you ordered engine mountings yet? I think that you will get through this. In a year you will know everything about these cars. Get yourself a good mechanics tool-kit

I would. But bear in mind you wont have a speedo and the engine wont have road speed so it might drive like sh**, then again if its causing the problems anyway then the way it drives might remain the same :) (thats good if it does stay the same)

You'd be looking for it to be far worse than it is now, or no change.... If its no change then the fcuked ABS sensor is the key to your problems (aside from shot engine mounts). IF it gets worse then the ABS sensor is just part of your problems.

Well since fixing the ABS problem the light hasnt come back on and the speedo isnt going crazy no more so happy about that. Took car to SPS today, must say dan is a canny lad. I told him i've fixed the ABS and that the engine dropping/misfiring needs to be looked at and the engine mount needs changed. Came back a few hours later and he said the engine isnt misfiring and that when the engine drops like it does, is normal and may be from a dodgy map. He took the car out and said it seems to be fine and is faster than a standard turbo, he also said the engine is healthy. So basically a lot of VX's engines drop like this? I really didnt think it would be normal but he defo says its fine and isnt loosing boost or anything. TBH after fixing the ABS problem the car does seem a bit smoother and maybe even smoother when the engine mounts are done which will be friday as he had none in stock... £110 for both mounts and fitting seems good? He said might aswell do the other side as it will probs go soon after I was expecting to come back with knackard turbo, cracked manifold or something but all seems to be fine. What i find weird is that i've never heard another VX engine drop like mine does and i've never heard a whoosing noise when pressing and letting off the pedal, steve did say the whoosing is the airbox though. All gears seem to pull fine except third, seems to have nothing there which is making me think the map has been took off? or like dan said maybe a dodgy map

Are you going to accept / believe that after ALL that you've said, and ALL that has been discussed on here...that there was never anything wrong with it?

Mate i really dont know what to think. I havent got a clue. I've been told dan knows a lot about the VX and is very respected so i dont know what to believe. I dont think the engine should be dropping like it should, but he said its fine...

I'd get it remapped by courtneys or mmg. That should then leave you with a good VX to enjoy.

Can you get handheld remaps from Courtneys and MMG? I know people are against them

No, they both do remaps to suit the car and it's mods and don't stick some generic crap on there.

Any map on there won't have been erased unless somebody specifically had it removed. Not sure how you can tell on a turbo, on the NA it usually means the rev limit will have been increased and that's probably the same on a turbo.

Ah right i see, well i have paper proof of the map so must be a crappy map. Suppose it was done on jan 08 at TMS
