Please stop drag racing it with the engine mounts fcuked..... you will only wreck more things! £50 to get both uppers from autovaux (phone dont use their site) and an hour each side (unless its a virgin VX )... DONE, ready for you to kick its head in properly, plus will make the car feel better on the road too.

I'd assume you'd get them to phone you and give you the price before they carry out the work.

SPS is a lotus specialist but they do a lot of VX220's too. I think its dans garage that used to work at jude performance. A lot of people seem to recommend him. I tried ringing his garage for 2 weeks and no answer so i just ended up driving down and booking myself in... so dont know if he'd ring lol I can see it costing so much that i might have to tell him to stop and end up selling the car. Most people i know say i've bought a shed for the money

Most garages will confirm the price with you before actually doing the work, no matter how big or small the job is.

Ok i'll leave my mobile number with him.

From what i know or think i know the ABS is knackard... since two owners ago so dont know how much that will cost, im loosing power so could be a boost leak or cracked manifold. Engine keeps dropping/misfiring so not sure what that could be. And the engine mounts. If i can mange to pay for all of this then i need to fork out for new tyres and geo setup as it hasnt been done since 2009

imho unless something has been changed or broken there is no 'need' to do a geo...... I drove for 4 years with the wheels pointing all over the place (even tyre wear though) and it never killed me.

Main reason i would do it is for handling but because im skint at the moment i would leave it but im thinking if i leave it and put new tyres on the new tyres will wear quicker

South Beds. Just want you to have a sorted car, they are so worth it when you get them right.

Me too but i've spent a lot of money on the car and if this garage cant find the problem or cant fix it... or even the price is silly high then i will be selling it as i've just had trouble from the start. I feel like i've been sh** on, i graft for my money and knowning i've spent 12k on a car with problems that just seem to keep coming really gets me down

Engine mounts are a consumable item. Given the way you seem to like to drive a car, I'd get very used to having to replace them. Slindborg did a good guide to show how to replace them with a minimum of tools (nothing specialised) and at £50 the pair from AutoVaux (and feck only knows how much from Vauxhall), it's definitely something you should tackle yourself if money is that tight. Doing that would save at least a hundred pounds from the bill from SPS. Take your nearside rear wheel off and closely check the ABS wiring to the sensor in the hub. May just be a simple case of re-soldering a frayed/broken wire or splicing in a length of replacement wire. Replacement hubs with the built-in sensor are again available for £60 from a motor factors (and again, massively more from a Vauxhall dealer).
