Im uploading a few videos i made in different gears of the speedo. Its done on a private road and yes i know the fuel light is on, i was on the way to petrol station anyway. I dont know if you can judge by the speedo if its slow or not but you lot with stage 2's should be able to compare?

Starting from second

Starting from third gear

Pretty similar tbh, on a private road obviously...

EDIT: after trying to watch them side by side i'd say mine is quicker but it's not leagues ahead. Think your just expecting the VX to be a bugatti veyron... :P

Steve

That might just be the difference  The weight of all that fuel may have been holding me back, although knowing the accuracy of the VXT fuel guage I could be running on empty for all I know :P

We're meeting up on saturday, weather permitting, so that'll be a good comparison!

Congratulations on getting a VX, welcome to the fold. The back end flicking out in the wet is probably a result of you being used to front wheel drive. Good that you realise you still have a lot to learn thumbsup I'd recommend you get a driver training done as soon as possible as those scares you've experienced show that you're not driving the car in the right style for a mid engine RWD. It takes time time to learn the style, I found the same when switching from FWD to RWD. At the moment the reality is you're an accident waiting to happen, but you may not realise it. I'd hate to see a post saying your pride and joy has crashed, driver training is great fun and I'd recommend you make it a priority above all other VX matters. For me the best possible new thread from you would be which driver training do you guys recommend, rather than a bhp/stage 4 type one :) it's a thread I'd happily share my 2 pence with for what its worth. Safe driving :grouphug:

Mine was the same. Felt down on power but no obvious problem and made some diesel noises. Turned out to be the boost control solenoid near the turbo was going. Plus changing the plugs for NGK 6s made it so much smoother. BCS totally went on the way to Le Mans which was fun :) £25 and 20 mins with a pair of small pliers and it's now back to being fast. BTW you can bypass the rear one on the inlet manifold. Have fun!

AstraVxr, where do you live - anywhere near Bristol? I'd be happy to have a listen and peruse over it if u like. Vids looks quite fast to me, smooth acceleration. Engines can get noisy, but doesnt necessarily mean trouble, sounded like a belt noise to me. Do you loose any coolant BTW (ie very slow loss)? Do you burn oil at all ?

Can I shed a little light on this since Im the previous owner! I sold the car to Kev_vaux earlier this year. He was planning to get a bit of work done to the car including the paint etc which you mention. Quite funny he has went to the trouble of putting all the badges including the front back on for you to rip off but that is a personal taste thing. A while after I advertised the car for sale I was getting an odd stutter now and again. This wasnt anything new to me as it happened every so often in my ownership but not all the time and I thought the TMS map would have sorted it.It wasnt having a serious effect on performance. Your duel with the ST or most other things on the road surprises me as I have put alot of expensive machinery to shame and the car was rapid. I was at 1/4 mile day not long before I sold it and was only the big silly power 4 wheel drives that were really able to edge the VX. The only thing that i have read through in all these posts thats stands out is that its still smoky. Should be no vapour i would have thought from the exhaust at this time of year. How long have you had it and has the car been used/ any other work done.

I've had it for about a month mate. When i picked the car up it looked/felt fine, took it away and it was a 4 hour drive back, i noticed the engine was dropping/misfiring and its been getting a bit worse lately, the lad mentioned that he paid a bomb on getting the ABS fixed, he never went into much detail about it. It needed a service so i asked him to knock £200 off the price, silly me didnt check the tyres and when i got back i noticed they're very very low so need two rear tyres. Also when changing headlight bulbs i noticed the fog light connector etc has been ripped out, not too fussed as i never use them. I was pretty happy with the car but problems seem to keep coming. After a week i noticed the misfiring was getting a bit worse and i could hear a whoosing noise which was getting louder but steve said its just the airbox. After 2 weeks the ABS light kept coming off and on now and then. 4 weeks later the ABS light is staying on and the speedo dial is going crazy at times, since yesterday i've noticed everytime i first start the car and brake the car judders and makes a funny noise, im guessing its the ABS as soon after this happens the ABS light comes straight on. Also two days ago the engine mount has gone

Didnt know he had put the badges etc back on, i just thought they had always been on... i've always thought they were better off anyway. Steve did mention it does seem a little down on power, he said its more like stage 1 power. But since i've bought the car i've had a lot of smoke on start up, tapping noise untill its wamed up and the engine drops every few seconds on idle

Oh and car hasnt had any work since i've had it, just a service, oil change. But its booked in at the garage for wed, hopefuly it will get sorted then

So he hasnt really sorted the ABS then as that was the same when i sold him it with the light up constantly and the speedo going crazy and the pedal pumping back at you.I never got it looked at so dont know the exact cause but i assumed it was the rear sensor just. Not sure whats going on with the fog light connector. I ve had pretty much all of the engine mounts replaced over ownership and put it down to the extra power causing this? I sold it pretty cheap because of the Abs and the paint issues. Lets hope the garage has some answers for you on wed. Can Kev not tell you about the ABS work he got carried out that cost a fortune?

He doesnt seem to come on here anymore. Well when i first bought it the ABS light didnt come on untill like a week later and it would just come on and off, the last 2 weeks its stayed on and started to pump the pedal back as you say... oh and the speedo going crazy.

Put it this way, my mate has this thing for the car its a little like a scan gauge and you test your 0 - 60, quarter mile, 0 - 100 and the best part the BHP. I know its not 100% true but we've tested it on his 353bhp RS and the unit read 355bhp so very close and we used it on my old VXR which was 310bhp rolling roaded and the unit read 312bhp so very close again. So i thought i would test it on the VX. Plugged it in and started the BHP test in third gear from 40mph and the result was 200bhp - 210bhp so it is down on power for stage 2. Also i did a 0 - 60 test (yes the tyres need replaced) and it was 5.4 seconds... engine mount noise is nasty from 0 - . Quarter mile was 13.5

I really hope it gets fixed on wed because its not good to buy a car you've always wanted then feel like you want rid of it because of all the problems
