sorry to see this mate. did you have uprated toe links? or HCB? couldnt imagine it would spin going as slow as you say on the semi dry roads without any warning. chin up, all will be ok, time will pass faster than you think :)

It was the way it has literally spun 180 degrees on the spot that makes me think after the suggestions that possibly it was the toe link on the drivers side wheel.

Sorry to see this fella. If this is toe link failure and its becoming a common and dangerous fault as the cars age should this be raised with GM via VOSA?

imho not really..... its WAY out or warranty and no 'worse' than a suspension part failing on any car really. Its a maintenance issue, the only problem being they dont show any signs of their way out :( I mean mine clonked and made a racket for 18 months before I changed the joints and it never had any signs of bolt failure etc

Thanks for the support guys. It looks like my renewal was going to be £980, so £1250 doesnt seem so bad. Now got to try and get the insurers to pay out and hopefully I'll be back soon enough. :grouphug:

Looking at the pictures based on the clam damage the point of impact is clearly the nearside rear, so there seems to be no good reason for the offside rear wheel to be pointing in the direction it is other than some suspension related failure, toe link or HCB most likely!
