You've not mentioned refurbing the OEM calipers. As the cars get older people may be tempted to upgrade the brakes when they could benefit from a refurb first of all. My car was transformed by refurbed Ap's.

Good god no - i don't know one end of a spanner from another :D Local specialist sent them away to be refurbed, can't remember how much it was but it wasn't that expensive.

I refurbed mine on the car Trifid bought. Was very simple and the effect was massive. It was mainly as when came to do the brakes they were completely full of old brake dust, even though the pads weren't all that old. The garage apparently hadn't heard of copper grease either (although I used the Mintex stuff personally).

I run AP 4 pots up front, with 308mm astra gsi discs, standard rear calipers and Mintex 1144 pads all round. I prefer the feel this set up gives to the brakes, plus with the greater front pad area and larger front discs they should stay cooler for longer

I believe back then it was using the standard 2 pots with 11mm spacers, but otherwise they are basically the same disc

the four pots are the best upgrade on brakes not once did they fade at anglsey along with new rear calipers imo makes the braking as good as it will ever be.

So I'm running standard brakes with 4chan abs ecu and rs14 pads. I'd like to chage discs to something lighter, reduce unsprung weight... What are my options? Didn't get brake fade Robin, even with standard front calipers and increased corner entry speeds with SCing.

Apart from Paul, has everyone bored off 308 discs? I know they would require spacers....
